- • As a DevOps Engineer at Guidehouse, you will play a critical role in enabling secure, scalable, and reliable cloud infrastructure for scientific applications used by researchers and clinicians at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the NIH, directly supporting public health research and innovation.
- • You will bridge software engineering and cloud operations by deploying, monitoring, and maintaining AWS-based infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, ensuring systems are secure, compliant, and optimized for scientific workloads handling sensitive data.
- • Day to day, you will deploy and manage cloud resources with Terraform, read and contribute to in-house Hashicorp Configuration Language (HCL) codebases, and monitor AWS infrastructure for performance, availability, and security.
- • You will implement and refine CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, write and maintain automation scripts in Python and Bash, and manage containerized applications using Docker to streamline software delivery.
- • You will collaborate with software developers, bioinformaticians, and domain experts to translate project specifications into functional cloud implementations while enforcing security boundaries around Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- • You will proactively identify, assess, and respond to security vulnerability reports, applying patches and configuration changes to maintain compliance with federal security standards.
- • You will continuously learn and adopt internal DevOps best practices, contributing to the evolution of automation frameworks and infrastructure reliability across Guidehouse’s federal technology portfolio.

- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in cloud-native technologies, federal compliance frameworks (including Public Trust requirements), and DevOps automation, positioning yourself for advancement in secure cloud engineering and infrastructure architecture.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related IT field, OR a high school diploma plus AWS Certified DevOps Engineer certification and five (5) years of relevant professional experience
- • Minimum four (4) years of relevant professional experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or related roles
- • One (1) year of full-time professional experience using Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management
- • Experienced with reading, writing, and maintaining Hashicorp Configuration Language (HCL) and GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation
- • Comprehensive knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, and CloudWatch, with hands-on implementation experience
- • Proficient in writing automation scripts using Python and Bash (or similar shells)
- • Experienced with Docker for containerization and Git/GitHub for version control and collaboration
- • Familiarity with Linux operating systems and command-line administration
- • Experience reviewing and responding to security vulnerability reports, particularly those involving PII or PHI in cloud environments
- • Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Public Trust clearance; active or existing suitability is preferred
