- • The Digital Communications Specialist plays a pivotal role in managing CIS’s social media presence across key platforms, developing and executing strategies that enhance brand awareness, engage priority audiences, and drive meaningful website traffic while creating and adapting visual and written content that supports communications efforts across digital and print channels.
- • This role is essential to amplifying CIS’s mission to make the connected world a safer place by ensuring consistent messaging, timely content delivery, effective community engagement, and alignment with brand standards across all digital touchpoints.
- • Maintain a strong understanding of CIS offerings and audiences to inform high-impact social content that resonates with target stakeholders including government, technology, and nonprofit sectors.
- • Develop and manage a unified editorial calendar across CIS social channels to ensure consistent, timely, and strategic content delivery aligned with organizational initiatives and campaigns.
- • Create, publish, and optimize timely, accessible, and engaging social content using best practices for each platform, incorporating accessibility standards and brand guidelines.
- • Collaborate with internal teams to support integrated campaigns and major organizational initiatives, ensuring messaging cohesion and cross-channel amplification.
- • Conduct community management online by monitoring channels, responding to inquiries, and escalating issues when appropriate to maintain positive audience engagement and brand reputation.
- • Coordinate paid social efforts, including creative specifications, targeting inputs, and performance review, to maximize ROI and campaign effectiveness.
- • Track and analyze social performance metrics using native tools and Google Analytics 4 to guide ongoing content and strategy improvements based on data-driven insights.
- • Apply social listening to identify trends, opportunities, and platform updates relevant to CIS, enabling proactive strategy adjustments.
- • Ensure all social and visual content adheres to CIS brand, editorial, legal, and accessibility standards, maintaining compliance and inclusivity.
- • Develop and adapt visual assets (e.g., graphics, infographics, ads, collateral) to support social and broader communications efforts using design tools.
- • Prepare production-ready files and maintain organized version control of design assets to support efficient workflow and team collaboration.
- • Work closely with the Graphic Designer to ensure cohesive visual execution across channels, reinforcing brand consistency and quality.
- • Support Communications by amplifying earned media, executive visibility, and key announcements through strategic social sharing and engagement.
- • Develop and support email marketing efforts as needed, integrating with broader digital campaigns for maximum reach.
- • Coordinate with Marketing Operations on tracking, UTM parameters, and analytics accuracy to ensure reliable performance measurement.
- • Edit and proofread social and visual content to maintain clarity, quality, and brand consistency across all published materials.
- • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the evolving needs of the Marketing and Communications team.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Design, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of Associate’s degree and relevant experience)
- • 2+ years of professional experience managing social media for a B2B, government, nonprofit, or technology organization, including content planning, publishing, and analytics
- • Demonstrated ability to write and design for social channels; strong copywriting, visual storytelling, and attention to detail
- • Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, or native platform tools) and Google Analytics 4
- • Experience coordinating paid social (creative specs, audience targeting, and performance reporting)
- • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and/or Canva for rapid content creation and adaptation
- • Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to apply constructive feedback
- • Must be authorized to work in the United States
