- • As Director of Catastrophe Claims at Assurant, you will lead the organization’s catastrophe claims function through high-severity events with precision, empathy, and operational excellence, ensuring policyholders receive timely, transparent, and compassionate support during their most difficult moments while driving performance across cycle time, quality, customer experience, capacity planning, and expense control.
- • You will lead large, geographically dispersed CAT teams during surge events, balancing agility, scale, and consistency; coach and develop leaders at all levels to build a high-performance culture rooted in accountability and empathy; oversee regulatory adherence, complex claim decisions, and escalation protocols; and advance processes, systems, and claims operating models to enhance scale and performance through continuous improvement initiatives.
- • You will collaborate strategically with Product, Finance, Legal, Catastrophe, Technology, and client-facing teams to align CAT execution with enterprise strategy, leveraging your expertise in regulatory compliance, coverage evaluation, claims investigation standards, and vendor/IA oversight to ensure sound decision-making under pressure.
- • In this role, you will elevate your leadership impact by transforming catastrophe response capabilities, mentoring emerging leaders, and driving innovation in claims operating models—positioning yourself as a strategic executive who delivers both operational excellence and human-centered outcomes in crisis environments.
- • You will gain exposure to enterprise-level crisis management, refine your ability to influence matrixed organizations through data-driven decision-making and executive presence, and deepen your expertise in balancing speed, quality, loss cost, and customer experience during high-stakes events—skills that are critical for advancement into senior enterprise leadership roles.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of P&C claims experience with proven leadership of multi-team or large-scale claims operations.
- • Deep catastrophe leadership experience, including high-severity, high-volume event management and surge staffing models.
- • Strong operational ownership across quality, performance, customer experience, expense control, and loss-cost management.
- • Expertise in regulatory compliance, coverage evaluation, claims investigation standards, and vendor/IA oversight.
- • Exceptional communication, executive presence, data-driven decision-making, and influence across matrixed organizations.
- • High emotional intelligence, resilience, and command presence with strong decision-making in urgent or ambiguous situations.
