Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Fluidstack is at the forefront of building the infrastructure for abundant intelligence, partnering with leading AI labs, governments, and enterprises to accelerate the realization of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Logistics to spearhead the strategy and execution of our entire supply chain operations. This pivotal role involves defining our transportation network, selecting and managing third-party logistics (3PL) and fourth-party logistics (4PL) partners, governing our warehousing strategy, and establishing scalable national and international standards.
- • The core challenge of building a supercomputer is fundamentally a logistics problem. It encompasses managing thousands of Stock Keeping Units (SKUs), navigating multi-vendor and multi-national supply chains, orchestrating global deployments, and ensuring client-designated materials are delivered precisely when and where needed, in the correct sequence, and without disruption. As the Director of Logistics, you will be instrumental in building and optimizing these complex operations while the company is in a rapid growth phase, making critical decisions that have compounding impacts.
- • Your responsibilities will span the entire logistics lifecycle, from Purchase Order (PO) release to on-site delivery. You will serve as the primary owner for all logistical activities, collaborating closely with Supply Chain, Program Management, Procurement, Finance, and onsite operations teams. This role requires a proactive individual who has experience with high-speed, large-scale operations and is eager to establish best-in-class logistics from the ground up in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- • Key strategic initiatives will include owning Fluidstack’s transportation strategy across all modes – ocean, air, and land – for the movement of critical components such as Data Center (DC) equipment, servers, networking hardware, and associated materials to global datacenter sites. You will be responsible for designing optimal lane and carrier strategies that meticulously balance cost, lead time, and risk across a complex, multi-geography, multi-site deployment pipeline.
- • A significant part of this role involves the evaluation, selection, and rigorous management of carrier and freight forwarder relationships. This includes negotiating favorable rates and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and holding partners accountable to stringent performance metrics. You will also develop robust contingency routing and escalation protocols to address time-critical or high-value shipments, ensuring minimal disruption.
- • Furthermore, you will define Fluidstack’s warehousing and fulfillment model, making critical decisions about which capabilities to own internally versus outsource. This includes structuring 3PL/4PL relationships to effectively support rapid site deployments across new and existing geographies. You will lead the selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of these partners, establishing clear SLAs, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and contractual accountability frameworks to drive continuous improvement in areas such as receiving accuracy, cycle count performance, throughput, and cost-per-unit.
- • You will assess the need for and potential implementation of central warehouse capacity as Fluidstack’s site footprint expands, making build vs. buy decisions. Operating standards for all Fluidstack-managed and 3PL-operated warehouse locations will be under your purview, covering receiving protocols, location control, storage rules, and inventory segregation (distinguishing between company-owned and client-designated compute hardware). Your goal will be to achieve and maintain greater than 99% inventory accuracy through rigorous cycle count cadences.
- • Establishing robust custody governance for client-designated materials is paramount. This involves defining clear chain-of-custody documentation, audit trail requirements, and handoff protocols to ensure the integrity and security of customer assets. You will also own the master materials register, ensuring accurate BOM-to-PO linkage, real-time status tracking from PO release through site delivery, and providing complete end-to-end visibility for all stakeholders.
- • As the escalation owner for any in-transit, carrier, or documentation issues that jeopardize project schedules, you will act as the primary Supply Chain interface to Construction, Infrastructure, Program Management, Procurement, Finance/AP, and onsite operations. This includes owning logistics cost reporting, budget accountability, and providing the necessary data for Accounting’s accruals and three-way matching processes.
- • Driving improvements in our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and logistics platforms (including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS)) will be key. You will also build comprehensive KPI dashboards to provide leadership with real-time operational visibility, enabling data-driven decision-making and continuous optimization of our logistics network.
