📋 Description

• As the Director, Product Design at ZayZoon, you will lead and grow the Product Design team while remaining hands-on in crafting intuitive, human-centered experiences that empower employees to access their earned wages with confidence. You will play a pivotal role in shaping how users interact with ZayZoon’s financial wellness platform, ensuring that design drives real impact on employee financial health and productivity.
• You will lead and mentor a growing, evolving Product Design team across multiple product portfolios, providing strategic direction, constructive feedback, and structural guidance to maintain high-quality design output across all digital touchpoints, including web and mobile applications.
• You will foster an empathetic, psychologically safe team culture that encourages experimentation, creativity, and professional growth, enabling designers to take calculated risks and innovate without fear of failure.
• You will directly contribute to design execution as a hands-on practitioner, rolling up your sleeves to work alongside the team on implementation and optimization efforts, ensuring design integrity from concept to final UI.
• You will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Data, and Product Marketing teams to own the end-to-end design process—from discovery and user research through conceptualization, prototyping, usability testing, and final UI delivery—ensuring solutions are grounded in real user needs and behaviors.
• You will establish and evolve scalable design systems, component libraries, documentation, and workflows that increase design velocity, promote cross-team consistency, and reduce redundancy as the product and organization scale.
• You will champion user empathy and usability standards by integrating qualitative and quantitative insights—such as interview findings, behavioral analytics, and usability test results—into product decisions to drive continuous UX improvement and measurable outcomes in activation, engagement, and satisfaction.
• You will help define and elevate ZayZoon’s design maturity by advocating for design’s strategic role in product success, mentoring junior designers, and establishing best practices that align with business goals while keeping the user at the center.
• You will have the opportunity to shape both the product and the team as they grow, leaving a lasting legacy on how ZayZoon designs financial wellness tools that reduce stress, increase access to pay, and improve the lives of millions of hardworking employees across North America.

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in UX and product design for web and mobile products, with a strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design expertise.
• 3+ years of direct people leadership experience, including mentoring, coaching, and managing designers to foster growth and high performance.
• Proficiency in Figma, Fullstory, Miro, or equivalent design and collaboration tools, with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.
• Solid understanding of user research methodologies, usability testing principles, and how to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable design insights.
• Proven experience working in agile development environments, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, and Data.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts, rationale, and trade-offs clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
