📋 Description

• As Director of User Insights at DuckDuckGo, you will lead a team of researchers embedded across product areas to transform user behavior and feedback into actionable product decisions that ship.
• You will set the strategic direction for research integration, ensuring insights are timely, decision-ready, and directly influence product roadmaps through qualitative and quantitative methods.
• You will partner with product, data science, and leadership to design research systems that anticipate needs 4-6 weeks ahead of commitments, run longitudinal studies, and consolidate findings into briefs for engineering and design teams.
• DuckDuckGo is a profitable, remote-first online protection company with over 300 team members, $100M+ annual revenue, and a mission to raise the standard of trust online through products like its privacy-focused browser, search engine, and Privacy Pro.

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years of professional experience, including 4+ years in senior leadership roles (Director, Head, VP) in user insights or research.
• Deep practitioner-level command of quantitative and qualitative methods including conjoint, MaxDiff, discrete choice, regression, multivariate analysis, moderated/unmoderated testing, diary studies, and metric framework development.
• Proven ability to build measurement approaches from first principles for ambiguous product questions with no established metrics.
• Experience working at a consumer-facing tech company with a meaningful US user base across multiple product surfaces.
• Background in environments with frequent A/B experiments where research is integrated into the shipping process.
• Track record of developing researchers through measurable improvements in methodology, framing, and stakeholder communication.
