- • Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL stored procedures, functions, and queries within large-scale relational databases to support NGP VAN’s data products and services.
- • Maintain and enhance ETL workflows and back-end data transformation jobs to ensure reliable, scalable data pipelines.
- • Troubleshoot and resolve data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and system inconsistencies affecting critical database operations.
- • Participate in schema design and architecture discussions to improve database structure, performance, and long-term maintainability.
- • Review code submissions from team members and provide mentorship to support professional growth and code quality standards.
- • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and services teams to align database solutions with business objectives and technical requirements.
- • Apply deep knowledge of relational data modeling to design efficient, normalized, and scalable database architectures.
- • Implement and tune indexing strategies, transaction management protocols, and concurrency controls to maximize database performance and integrity.
- • Conduct performance analysis on large datasets to identify slow queries, resource contention, and optimization opportunities.
- • Ensure data integrity across systems by enforcing referential constraints, validation rules, and audit practices.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of database monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to proactively detect and address issues.
- • Support deployment and migration efforts for database changes, including version control, rollback plans, and environment synchronization.
- • Document database schemas, procedures, and workflows to ensure knowledge retention and cross-team accessibility.
- • Stay current with evolving database technologies and best practices in high-availability, high-throughput environments.
- • Operate within a union-represented environment under CWA Local 1101, 1400, 2336, or 13000, adhering to collective bargaining agreements and labor standards.
- • Maintain strict compliance with U.S. employment authorization requirements; no sponsorship is available for this role.
- • Work remotely within the United States as part of a distributed team focused on advancing democratic and progressive causes through technology.
