  • • Join Shield AI, a pioneering deep-tech company at the forefront of developing intelligent systems to protect service members and civilians. Since our founding in 2015, we have been driven by a mission to create cutting-edge autonomous aircraft and software solutions that enhance operational capabilities and safety.
  • • As an Engineer II, Electrical Integration, you will play a pivotal role within our growing Avionics Engineering team, contributing directly to the development of our advanced X-BAT aircraft and the innovative Launch and Recovery Vehicle.
  • • This is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the design and implementation of a flight-critical, custom avionics system. Your responsibilities will span across crucial aircraft systems, including communications, compute, artificial intelligence (AI) integration, power management, telemetry, and all other essential onboard functionalities.
  • • You will be instrumental in the end-to-end integration of avionics systems, sensors, actuators, and payloads onto both the XBAT and Launch and Recovery vehicles. This integration process will cover the entire lifecycle, from initial concept and design phases through to full-scale production.
  • • Your work will directly impact the reliability, performance, and safety of our autonomous systems, ensuring they meet the rigorous demands of real-world operational environments.
  • • You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, including software, hardware, mechanical, and systems engineers, to achieve seamless integration and optimal system performance.
  • • Key responsibilities will include designing, developing, and testing electrical interfaces and harnesses for avionics components, ensuring compliance with stringent aerospace standards and requirements.
  • • You will be involved in the selection and qualification of electronic components, considering factors such as performance, reliability, environmental resilience, and cost-effectiveness.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve troubleshooting and resolving complex electrical integration issues that may arise during development, testing, and production.
  • • You will contribute to the creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation, including schematics, wiring diagrams, test procedures, and integration plans.
  • • You will participate in design reviews, providing valuable insights and ensuring that electrical integration strategies align with overall system architecture and project goals.
  • • This position offers the chance to work with state-of-the-art technologies and contribute to the advancement of autonomous flight systems that are making a tangible difference in critical applications.
  • • You will gain hands-on experience with a variety of avionics hardware, including flight computers, communication radios, GPS receivers, inertial measurement units (IMUs), and sensor interfaces.
  • • The integration challenges will involve ensuring robust data flow and power distribution across all connected systems, managing electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and interference (EMI), and verifying signal integrity.
  • • You will be expected to develop and execute comprehensive test plans to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of integrated avionics systems under various operating conditions.
  • • This role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of our integration processes and methodologies, helping to shape the future of avionics development at Shield AI.
  • • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to see their work deployed in the field, supporting critical missions and contributing to Shield AI's overarching mission of protecting lives.
  • • You will be an integral part of a team that values innovation, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence in aerospace engineering.
  • • This role provides a platform for professional growth, offering exposure to a wide range of technical challenges and opportunities to expand your expertise in avionics and electrical systems integration.
  • • You will be involved in the physical integration of components, ensuring proper mounting, routing of cables, and thermal management within the aircraft structure.
  • • Understanding and applying principles of systems engineering will be crucial for ensuring that the electrical integration efforts are aligned with the broader system requirements and objectives.
  • • You will work with development tools and software for schematic capture, PCB layout (if applicable), and simulation to aid in the design and verification process.
  • • The ability to interpret and adhere to aerospace industry standards (e.g., DO-160, MIL-STD) will be essential for ensuring the airworthiness and reliability of the integrated systems.
  • • You will contribute to the development of test fixtures and automated test equipment to streamline the verification and validation of avionics subsystems and the complete integrated system.
  • • This role is for an individual who is passionate about aerospace, possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a collaborative engineering environment.
  • • Your contributions will directly support the rapid development and deployment of advanced unmanned aerial systems (UAS) that are transforming defense and security capabilities.
  • • You will be a key player in ensuring that Shield AI's aircraft are not only technologically advanced but also robust, reliable, and safe for operation in demanding environments.
  • • This position offers a chance to be part of a mission-driven organization with a clear vision for the future of intelligent defense technology.
  • • You will be empowered to take ownership of your work, driving integration efforts from concept to reality and contributing to the success of Shield AI's groundbreaking products.
