- • Lead and develop a cross-functional engineering team focused on Statista’s Acquisition & Registration domain, including frontend, backend, and QA engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and engineering excellence.
- • Own the engineering strategy and delivery for services enabling user discovery, sign-up, purchase, and conversion on Statista’s platform, directly impacting lead generation and revenue growth.
- • Partner with Product Management to execute the product roadmap, aligning business priorities with technical execution while managing trade-offs and ensuring predictable delivery.
- • Design, evolve, and modernize the technical architecture for acquisition and registration systems, including sign-up flows, checkout processes, payment integrations, product plans, upgrades, and migration of legacy PHP-based systems to a modern stack.
- • Drive adoption of AI-native engineering practices by integrating agentic development workflows, applying AI tools to enhance software quality, and establishing standards for AI-assisted development.
- • Remain hands-on in technical decision-making, contributing to code reviews, architecture design, and system improvements while championing best practices in code quality, testing, observability, and operational excellence.
- • Utilize AWS, React, TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Unleash, and Jira to build, monitor, and optimize scalable, reliable services supporting global user acquisition and conversion.
- • Collaborate across departments to ensure seamless integration of engineering solutions with product, marketing, and business goals, maintaining alignment on technical and business KPIs.
- • Mentor engineers through coaching and career development, promoting continuous learning and technical growth within the team.
- • Ensure system reliability and scalability by implementing robust monitoring, alerting, and incident response protocols using Datadog and other observability tools.
- • Lead technical initiatives to modernize legacy PHP systems, reducing technical debt and improving maintainability, performance, and security of core acquisition and registration services.
- • Promote a culture of innovation by evaluating and integrating emerging AI-powered engineering tools to accelerate development cycles and improve software delivery outcomes.
- • Maintain strong stakeholder communication with product, marketing, and business teams to translate business needs into technical requirements and deliver measurable impact.
- • Support international collaboration within Statista’s global engineering organization, ensuring alignment across offices in Hamburg, Berlin, London, New York, and Tokyo.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of software engineering experience in cloud-native environments, including experience leading and developing engineering teams
- • Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, AWS, GitHub Actions, Datadog, Unleash, Jira, and experience working with PHP-based legacy systems
- • Proven experience designing scalable software architectures and modernizing legacy applications
- • Hands-on experience using AI-powered engineering tools and agentic development practices to improve software delivery
- • Strong stakeholder management, coaching, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to balance business priorities and technical decisions
- • Excellent written and spoken English
