- • The Field Service Engineer 1 role supports GE HealthCare’s Surgery region by providing technical assistance to field engineers, ensuring timely and accurate preventative maintenance, equipment installation, and troubleshooting for a single modality, directly contributing to precision care and world-class customer service.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include learning and performing preventative maintenance, FMIs, and ISIs; assisting senior engineers with installations; troubleshooting equipment issues; communicating with customers and teammates; maintaining service logs and records; ordering parts; managing cycle times; utilizing escalation processes; engaging with commercial teams to identify sales leads; and building customer relationships to become a trusted partner in their operations.

The Field Service Engineer 1 role is part of a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on delivering reliable, high-performance healthcare equipment across Central Florida and beyond, with remote work flexibility supporting regional coverage.
- • In this role, the engineer will develop strong technical competencies in medical equipment service, gain hands-on experience with GEHC systems, build customer-facing communication and partnership skills, learn administrative and compliance processes, and progress toward independent service call resolution within one year—laying the foundation for advancement into a full-package field engineer role.
🎯 Requirements
- • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience servicing electronic equipment.
- • Experience with web applications and Microsoft Office suite.
- • Valid driver’s license and ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 55 lbs unassisted, with physical demands including frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, crawling, sitting, and standing for long periods, plus good hand/finger dexterity and vision capabilities (color, close, distance, peripheral, depth perception).
