Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the end-to-end finance function for Calico AI’s Canadian headquarters while simultaneously steering U.S. revenue operations, ensuring every dollar of revenue is tracked, forecasted, and optimized across borders.
  • • Architect and execute quarterly and annual budgeting cycles that translate ambitious product-roadmap milestones into precise financial targets, delivering board-ready forecasts that guide capital allocation and hiring plans.
  • • Build dynamic financial models that layer U.S. customer pipelines, production lead-times, and FX exposure into one consolidated view—empowering the CEO to make real-time trade-off decisions between growth investment and cash preservation.
  • • Drive revenue recognition discipline for a SaaS-enabled marketplace model: translate complex customer contracts into ASC 606-compliant schedules, monitor churn and upsell triggers, and surface customer-level profitability dashboards for the Commercial team.
  • • Lead cash-flow forecasting and treasury management across CAD and USD entities, optimizing liquidity buffers, inter-company funding, and revenue repatriation to minimize FX risk and tax leakage.
  • • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations—month-end close, payroll, AP/AR, equity administration, and statutory filings—delivering a 5-day close cadence and zero-surprise audits.
  • • Design and deploy a modern finance stack that stitches together QuickBooks, Ramp, Carta, Monday.com, HubSpot, and SQL-based BI tools, eliminating manual journal entries and creating self-serve dashboards for every department.
  • • Partner with Operations to embed unit-economics thinking into SKU-level sourcing decisions, ensuring landed-cost data flows automatically into margin analysis and pricing workflows.
  • • Collaborate with Brand Management and Business Development to model new customer cohorts, pricing tiers, and lifetime-value scenarios—turning abstract growth ideas into P&L-backed proposals within 48 hours.
  • • Support fundraising and investor relations by preparing data rooms, cap-table scenarios, and scenario-based burn-rate analyses that withstand VC diligence and debt-financing covenants.
  • • Continuously scan the fintech landscape for AI-driven forecasting, spend-management, or FX-hedging tools that can shave hours off monthly workflows and improve predictive accuracy.
  • • Champion a culture of financial literacy across the company, running monthly “Finance Friday” sessions that demystify burn, runway, and cash conversion cycle for engineers, designers, and customer-success managers alike.
  • • Serve as the compliance quarterback for multi-jurisdictional tax, transfer-pricing, and regulatory reporting, coordinating external advisors to keep Calico audit-ready and penalty-free.
  • • Translate board-level strategic questions—"Should we open a U.S. subsidiary?" or "What’s the ROI of near-shoring production?"—into data-driven recommendations backed by sensitivity analysis and risk-weighted outcomes.
  • • Build scalable policies and controls that can withstand 3Ă— headcount growth without adding headcount to the finance team, proving that lean systems beat bloated org charts.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5–8 years of progressive finance, FP&A, or accounting experience in high-growth, multi-entity or SaaS/marketplace environments.
  • • Demonstrated success implementing automation and integrations across finance, CRM, and operations tools (QuickBooks, Ramp, Carta, SQL/BI stacks).
  • • Deep working knowledge of both Canadian and U.S. GAAP, tax, treasury, and cross-border compliance requirements.
  • • Advanced financial-modeling skills with ability to translate complex data into concise, decision-ready insights for executives and investors.
  • • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional designation strongly preferred.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive base salary plus performance-based bonus tied to company OKRs.
  • • Fully remote-first culture with quarterly in-person team summits in Toronto and NYC.
  • • Flexible PTO policy and company-wide recharge weeks to protect mental health.
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for Canadian employees; stipend for U.S. contractors.
