📋 Description

  • Leads, develops, and motivates a team to deliver advanced financial analytics and insights on key business drivers related to income, profitability, liquidity, capital, leverage, asset and liability management, and operating expenses.
  • Anticipates and tackles complex or unique business problems by providing proactive, holistic, and forward-looking financial solutions to enable strategic decision-making by senior management.
  • Serves as a trusted financial advisor to senior management, consistently interacting with executives to advise on critical financial issues and risk exposure.
  • Makes recommendations to resolve both short-term operational and long-term strategic financial challenges across multiple systems, functions, or processes.
  • Mentors team members on complex financial processes, business drivers, and systems to ensure knowledge transfer and consistent application of best practices.
  • Reviews and oversees the work of financial analysts, assists management in task assignment, and manages workflow to ensure timely and compliant delivery of financial outputs.
  • Leads initiatives to develop an integrated enterprise planning process by aligning multiple company and staff agency processes and technologies.
  • Directs the development, enhancement, and implementation of critical financial processes, programs, and technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identifies, measures, monitors, and controls risks associated with business activities in alignment with regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Acquires and applies expert knowledge of USAA’s business, financial products, and operational processes to inform analysis and recommendations.
  • Performs complex, often unique financial analyses requiring deep technical accounting and finance expertise across diverse data sources and systems.
  • Communicates complex financial and accounting topics clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including non-financial stakeholders and senior leaders.
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel for advanced financial data analysis, modeling, and reporting to support decision-making.
  • Applies subject-matter-expert knowledge of financial services operations, accounting/finance industry practices, and emerging trends.
  • Ensures all financial activities adhere to GAAP standards and applicable financial regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Produces comprehensive financial reports and translates data findings into actionable recommendations for business improvement and strategic planning.

🎯 Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field, OR 4 additional years of related experience in lieu of degree
  • 8 years of financial/accounting analysis experience including 2 years leading strategic financial opportunities, OR an advanced degree plus 6 years of experience including 1 year leading strategic opportunities
  • Subject-matter-expert knowledge of data analysis and technical accounting/finance acumen
  • Subject-matter-expert level of business acumen in financial services operations and finance/accounting industry practices
  • Experience communicating complex financial topics to varied audiences
  • Experience using financial/accounting technologies and proposing system improvements
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel for significant financial data analysis and reporting
  • Experience applying financial regulations and compliance standards
  • Experience producing financial reports and providing data-driven recommendations
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
