- • Own the full month-end close process across multiple Canadian and US entities with a target of completion by business day 10
- • Manage payroll operations for both Canadian and US entities, including all remittances, year-end filings, and administration of Deel and equivalent platforms
- • Lead and supervise a team of 7 finance operations staff including bookkeepers, AR/AP specialists, and payroll administrators
- • Execute intercompany reconciliations and transactions across CAD and USD currencies with precision and timeliness
- • Prepare consolidated monthly financial statements for review by the CFO and company ownership
- • Ensure compliance with Canadian tax obligations including GST, QST, HST, T2, T4, T4A, T5, and RL-1 filings
- • Maintain awareness of and support compliance with US sales tax requirements alongside external accountants
- • Design and document standardized finance operations workflows in Notion to enable team autonomy and scalability
- • Support mergers and acquisitions activities including chart of accounts mapping, opening balance reconciliation, and integration of acquired entities
- • Collaborate with external accountants on corporate tax filings and SR&ED claims
- • Maintain accurate and timely accounting records across all entities using QuickBooks Online as the primary system
- • Translate financial data into actionable insights by interpreting P&Ls for service-based businesses and identifying operational improvements
- • Operate with full ownership in a remote, distributed environment with minimal bureaucracy and high decision-making autonomy
- • Adapt quickly to evolving financial systems and processes as the company scales through acquisitions and geographic expansion
- • Communicate financial results and operational updates clearly to executive leadership and cross-functional teams
- • Proactively identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and implement solutions without waiting for direction
- • Maintain strict adherence to accounting standards and internal controls across all jurisdictions
- • Participate in strategic finance planning as the company grows, contributing to financial modeling and operational scalability
🎯 Requirements
- • CPA designation (Canadian)
- • Fully bilingual in French and English, written and spoken
- • Based in Canada
- • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years as Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant
- • Direct experience in an agency, professional services, or media/marketing services environment
- • Hands-on multi-entity payroll experience across Canadian and US jurisdictions
