Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting cycle for Greenhouse’s R&D organization (Engineering & Product), translating ambitious product roadmaps and AI-first initiatives into rigorous, data-driven financial models that guide investment decisions and resource allocation.
- • Serve as the primary finance business partner to Engineering and Product VPs, translating complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that influence hiring plans, vendor negotiations, and technology spend—ultimately shaping how we build and scale AI-powered hiring solutions.
- • Build and continuously refine driver-based models that forecast headcount, cloud infrastructure, software tooling, and third-party AI services; stress-test scenarios for rapid growth, cost containment, and strategic pivots so leadership can move with confidence.
- • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting cycles for R&D, coordinating inputs from engineering teams, product managers, and people operations to ensure every dollar is tied to measurable outcomes and OKRs.
- • Design and automate KPI dashboards that surface real-time burn, runway, and ROI metrics for AI experiments; partner with Data & BI teams to eliminate manual spreadsheets and create self-service analytics for non-finance stakeholders.
- • Drive deep-dive analyses on cloud cost optimization, vendor consolidation, and AI model efficiency—presenting findings to the CFO and executive staff that directly influence multi-million-dollar investment decisions.
- • Collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate accruals, capitalization of R&D costs, and compliance with ASC 730 and ASC 985; own the monthly close review for R&D spend and partner with auditors during year-end.
- • Partner with People & Talent to model headcount scenarios against product release timelines, ensuring we balance aggressive hiring goals with fiscal discipline while maintaining Greenhouse’s inclusive culture and pay-equity standards.
- • Evaluate and implement FP&A tooling (e.g., Adaptive, Anaplan, Pigment) to streamline planning workflows, reduce cycle time, and increase forecast accuracy—positioning Greenhouse as a best-in-class finance organization.
- • Present board-ready materials on R&D investment strategy, highlighting key risks, opportunities, and strategic trade-offs; influence board-level conversations on capital allocation and long-term AI roadmap.
- • Mentor junior analysts and create a culture of continuous learning, sharing best practices in financial modeling, storytelling, and stakeholder management across the broader Finance team.
- • Champion a culture of transparency and accountability by hosting monthly business reviews with Engineering and Product leaders, ensuring every team understands the financial impact of their decisions and feels empowered to optimize spend.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of progressive FP&A experience in high-growth SaaS or technology companies, with at least 2 years owning the full planning cycle for Engineering or Product organizations.
- • Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and at least one modern FP&A platform (Adaptive, Anaplan, Pigment, or similar); ability to build complex driver-based models from scratch.
- • Demonstrated success partnering with Engineering and Product executives, translating technical roadmaps into financial plans and influencing strategic decisions without direct authority.
- • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related quantitative field; MBA or CPA preferred but not required.
- • Nice-to-have: experience modeling cloud infrastructure costs (AWS/GCP), familiarity with ASC 730 R&D capitalization rules, and prior exposure to AI/ML cost structures.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote-first culture with flexible working hours and quarterly in-person team gatherings in rotating U.S. cities.
- • Competitive salary plus equity in a fast-growing, profitable SaaS company on the path to IPO.
- • Annual $2,000 professional development stipend for courses, conferences, or certifications to keep your skills sharp.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with 100% employer-paid premiums for employees and 75% for dependents.
- • 20 days PTO, 10 company holidays, and a 4-week paid sabbatical after 4 years—because great work starts with great rest.
