📋 Description

  • • As a Global Immigration Program Manager at Coinbase, you will be at the forefront of managing and enhancing our worldwide immigration program, a critical function that supports our mission to increase economic freedom globally. This role is designed for an individual who thrives in a dynamic, high-impact environment, possesses a deep understanding of global immigration processes, and is driven by a desire to optimize operations through data and strategic planning.
  • • You will serve as a primary subject-matter expert, offering comprehensive guidance and strategic recommendations on a wide array of immigration categories, including but not limited to H-1B, TN, E-3, L-1, O-1, PERM/green card processes, and J-1 visas. Your expertise will be crucial in scenario planning and advising HR and business partners, with the ability to escalate complex or high-risk matters to senior leadership and external counsel.
  • • A core responsibility will be to build and continuously improve the immigration operating model. This involves meticulously documenting and standardizing processes, collaborating closely with Tier 1/Tier 2 support teams to ensure they can effectively manage repeatable tasks, and proactively identifying and rectifying any gaps in enablement and controls to ensure smooth, compliant operations.
  • • You will take ownership of the annual H-1B CAP portfolio and manage the entire lifecycle of ongoing cases, including portability, amendments, and extensions. Your proactive management of timelines, documentation readiness, vendor coordination, and stakeholder communication will be vital in preventing business disruptions and ensuring our workforce remains compliant.
  • • Supporting Coinbase's global expansion and any Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activities will be a key aspect of your role. You will assess the feasibility, cost, and timelines associated with work authorization for new markets or acquired entities, contributing essential guidance to go/no-go decisions and developing implementation playbooks in close partnership with Legal, Global Mobility, and other People team functions.
  • • Establishing clear and efficient intake processes and employee/manager communications is paramount. This includes maintaining robust request flows within systems like Jira and HRIS, publishing comprehensive FAQs and user-friendly guides, and providing timely, structured updates during periods of regulatory change or unexpected travel disruptions, ensuring all stakeholders are well-informed and prepared.
  • • You will define, track, and maintain key operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), such as time-to-file, approval rates, error/redo rates, and cost-per-matter. Regular reviews of these metrics with your manager and partner teams will drive data-informed decision-making and the implementation of continuous improvement experiments to enhance program efficiency and effectiveness.
  • • A significant part of your role will involve partnering with HR Tech and People Analytics teams. You will translate complex immigration requirements into actionable specifications for system enhancements, work towards automating repetitive workflows, strengthen document control mechanisms, and contribute to the development of dashboards that minimize manual effort and reduce the potential for errors.
  • • This position offers a unique opportunity to shape and scale a critical global function within a fast-paced, innovative company. You will leverage your deep understanding of immigration law and operational best practices to ensure Coinbase can attract and retain top talent worldwide, directly contributing to the company's ambitious growth objectives and its mission to build the future of the global financial system.
  • • You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance and facilitating seamless employee mobility, acting as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and a champion for operational excellence within the immigration domain. Your work will directly impact the employee experience and the company's ability to operate effectively on a global scale.
