• • As the Head of AI at Develop Health, Inc., you will be instrumental in shaping the technical direction and driving the execution of applied artificial intelligence across the entire organization. This pivotal role is designed for a deeply hands-on individual who thrives on building, evaluating, and deploying AI systems, rather than managing from a distance. You will lead a small, senior AI team and collaborate closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to strategically define how AI permeates every facet of our product and operations, ensuring we maintain our position at the forefront of healthcare innovation.
• • In your day-to-day responsibilities, you will take complete ownership of our existing AI systems, encompassing models, prompts, evaluation pipelines, and agent architectures. A significant part of your initial focus will be identifying and implementing the highest-leverage improvements to these systems. You will be responsible for building and rigorously refining evaluation frameworks that precisely measure model accuracy, reliability, and, crucially, real-world clinical value. As a player-coach, you will lead and mentor the AI team while actively contributing code and building solutions yourself on a daily basis. You will work in tandem with the CTO to define the applied AI roadmap, making critical decisions about where to invest in fine-tuning versus prompting, when to build new solutions versus acquiring existing ones, and how to strategically navigate the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Furthermore, you will be responsible for deploying AI improvements into production, which includes designing robust APIs, optimizing inference processes for efficiency and speed, and establishing comprehensive observability to proactively detect and address any issues that may arise.
• • Beyond the initial months, your role will expand to encompass the overarching AI strategy for Develop Health. You will define and execute this strategy, identifying opportunities to leverage AI across our product development, operational workflows, and internal tooling to sustain and enhance our competitive advantage. A key responsibility will be scaling our AI infrastructure to accommodate a projected 100x increase in transaction volume, ensuring that the reliability and stability demanded by the healthcare industry are maintained. You will build sophisticated systems for continuous model improvement, driven by feedback from production environments and insights derived from clinical outcomes. Additionally, you will be tasked with growing and developing the AI team, which includes recruiting new engineering talent, mentoring existing team members, and elevating the standards for AI best practices throughout the entire engineering organization.
