Head of Legal and Compliance

📋 Description

• • Own the end-to-end legal and compliance function at Aibidia, acting as the single point of accountability for all commercial, corporate, privacy and security matters across a 100-person, Series B SaaS scale-up backed by Activant, DN Capital, Global Founders Capital and Icebreaker VC.
• • Draft, negotiate and close high-value SaaS, licensing, partnership and vendor agreements that directly accelerate ARR growth; serve as the trusted legal partner to Sales, Product, Marketing and Customer Success so that every deal closes faster, cleaner and with risk intelligently managed.
• • Architect and continuously refine a governance framework that keeps pace with rapid product iteration and international expansion, ensuring Finnish, EU and global regulatory alignment without slowing innovation.
• • Serve as Data Protection Officer and privacy champion, embedding Privacy by Design into new features, owning GDPR compliance audits, managing data-subject requests and coordinating breach response across engineering, security and communications teams.
• • Lead the build-out and certification of ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II programmes, including policy creation, internal audits, gap remediation and external assessor management; translate technical controls into plain-language guidance for all departments.
• • Advise the CEO, CFO and Board on corporate governance, cap-table management, subsidiary structures and strategic M&A; maintain corporate records, board minutes and statutory filings in accordance with Finnish and EU law.
• • Monitor the evolving regulatory landscape—GDPR, DORA, EU AI Act, consumer protection, employment and sector-specific rules—and translate new requirements into actionable playbooks that protect the business while enabling growth.
• • Manage pre-litigation disputes, customer escalations and any litigation matters, selecting and directing external counsel to achieve cost-effective, business-aligned outcomes.
• • Design and deliver company-wide training on contracts, privacy, security and ethics, cultivating a culture where every employee feels empowered to spot and escalate risk early.
• • Oversee third-party and vendor due-diligence workflows, ensuring that every supplier, sub-processor and integration partner meets Aibidia’s security, privacy and compliance standards before a single euro is spent.
• • Build and mentor a lean, high-performing legal & compliance team as the company scales; create career paths, OKRs and feedback loops that attract top-tier talent and retain institutional knowledge.
• • Partner with Finance to optimise insurance coverage (D&O, cyber, professional liability) and manage renewals, claims and broker relationships.
• • Contribute to ESG and sustainability initiatives, ensuring that Aibidia’s growth story is also a responsible, future-proof one.
• • Work from our vibrant Helsinki HQ with a hybrid model that balances focused deep-work days at home with high-bandwidth collaboration in the office; occasional travel to customer sites, investor meetings and industry conferences across Europe.
