- • As the Head of People (Global) at Bjak Sdn. Bhd., you will be instrumental in shaping and scaling our human resources function across a dynamic, international landscape. This is a pivotal, hands-on role where you will own the complete HR lifecycle for our employees spread across Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, the UK, and the US, encompassing both on-site and remote team members. Your primary mission will be to build, operate, and scale a world-class HR function that supports our rapid growth and ambitious business objectives.
- • This position demands a proactive and deeply involved approach, moving beyond traditional managerial or purely strategic responsibilities. You are expected to be a driving force in execution, particularly in critical areas such as talent acquisition, performance management, providing robust support to our leadership team, and navigating complex people-related challenges. Concurrently, you will be laying the groundwork for scalable HR systems and cultivating a high-performing, compact HR team.
- • You will collaborate intimately with our founders and senior leadership, serving as a trusted advisor, a strategic partner, and a pragmatic problem-solver. Your insights and actions will directly influence our organizational design, workforce planning, and the overall employee experience, ensuring alignment with our mission of creating successful businesses while contributing positively to society through increased efficiency.
- • Your responsibilities will span the entire spectrum of HR:
- • Talent Acquisition: Personally lead and champion critical hiring initiatives for technical, commercial, and corporate roles. You will ensure a high standard of quality, speed, and consistency in our recruitment processes across all global regions, attracting top-tier talent to fuel our expansion.
- • HR Business Partnering: Act as a hands-on HR Business Partner for our founders, senior leaders, and managers. You will provide direct support for day-to-day people decisions, address performance issues proactively, guide organizational changes, and foster a culture of trust and open communication.
- • Performance Management & Development: Design, implement, and operate effective performance management, feedback, and development frameworks. These systems will be intentionally simple, practical, and actively embraced by managers to drive continuous improvement and employee growth.
- • Employee Engagement: Spearhead initiatives aimed at strengthening employee alignment, enhancing retention, and boosting overall execution. Your focus will be on creating meaningful engagement strategies that foster a positive work environment without introducing unnecessary bureaucracy.
- • Leadership Support: Partner closely with founders and senior leaders on crucial strategic initiatives, including organization design, comprehensive workforce planning, robust performance management, strategic succession planning, and targeted leadership development programs.
- • Compensation & Benefits: Oversee global payroll, compensation structures, and benefits programs. You will ensure these are competitive, equitable, fair, and compliant with local regulations across all operating countries, maintaining accuracy and transparency.
- • HR Operations & Compliance: Manage all aspects of HR operations, including global payroll processing, employment contracts, policy development, and ensuring adherence to statutory requirements across multiple jurisdictions. You will leverage external advisors or Employer of Record (EOR) services as needed to ensure seamless operations.
- • Process & Systems Improvement: Design, implement, and continuously refine HR processes and systems that are scalable and efficient, ensuring they support business growth without becoming a bottleneck.
- • Team Building: As the HR function matures, you will build, mentor, and lead a small, high-quality HR team, instilling a strong culture of ownership, execution, and excellence.
- • This role is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, possesses a strong bias for action, and is eager to make a significant impact on a global scale. You will be at the forefront of building the people infrastructure that supports Bjak's innovative application platforms and its mission to digitize industries and create societal value.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading end-to-end HR in a fast-growing, international organization.
- • Strong hands-on background with the ability to operate at both strategic and execution levels.
- • Experience managing HR across multiple countries, including a mix of local entities, remote employees, and third-party employment structures.
- • Solid expertise across talent acquisition, performance management, employee relations, compensation & benefits, payroll, and HR operations.
- • Strong judgment and business acumen, with the ability to make pragmatic decisions in ambiguous situations.
- • High ownership mindset - comfortable rolling up sleeves and solving problems directly.
- • Ability to work closely with founders and senior leaders in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Opportunity to build and shape the HR function from the ground up in a rapidly growing global tech company.
