  • • Are you a seasoned HR professional with a deep understanding of labor law and a passion for fostering positive employee relations? Novanta Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced HR Manager for Labor Relations (m/f/d) to join our dynamic team, operating remotely within Germany. This pivotal role is responsible for the strategic and operational management of all labor law matters across the EMEA region, acting as a crucial bridge between HR, management, and works councils.
  • • In this capacity, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all labor law processes are not only legally compliant but also transparent and cooperative, fostering a harmonious work environment. Your expertise will be vital in navigating the complexities of German labor law, particularly the Works Constitution Act (BetrVG), and applying it to global HR initiatives.
  • • A core aspect of your role will involve providing expert advice to managers and HR colleagues on a wide spectrum of labor law issues. This includes guiding them through intricate legal landscapes, offering practical solutions, and ensuring consistent application of policies and regulations across the organization.
  • • You will actively collaborate with works councils on co-determination matters, playing a key role in negotiations and discussions related to significant projects, organizational restructuring, and the development of company-wide agreements. Your ability to build and maintain constructive relationships with these bodies will be paramount to success.
  • • Developing and implementing proactive strategies to promote positive labor relations will be a significant focus. This involves anticipating potential issues, creating frameworks for effective communication, and championing a culture of mutual respect and understanding between employees and the company.
  • • You will be a key player in supporting conflict resolution processes, employing your negotiation and mediation skills to address and resolve disputes efficiently and effectively, minimizing disruption and preserving working relationships.
  • • Ensuring unwavering compliance with all relevant labor law regulations and internal company policies is a non-negotiable responsibility. You will be responsible for monitoring changes in legislation, updating internal guidelines, and implementing robust compliance frameworks.
  • • A critical function of this role is the implementation of global HR projects within the specific legal context of the German Works Constitution Act. This requires a nuanced understanding of how international HR strategies translate into local operational realities, ensuring legal adherence and successful integration.
  • • You will be actively involved in negotiating and coordinating with works councils as part of both international and local HR initiatives. This involves representing Novanta's interests while ensuring collaborative outcomes that respect employee representation.
  • • In situations of labor law disputes, you will represent the company, coordinating closely with internal legal counsel and external stakeholders to manage cases effectively and achieve favorable resolutions.
  • • The drafting and meticulous review of essential labor law documents, including employment contracts, warning letters, and termination agreements, will be a regular part of your duties, ensuring accuracy, legal soundness, and adherence to best practices.
  • • To empower others within the organization, you will conduct comprehensive training sessions on labor law topics for managers and HR staff. This proactive approach aims to enhance understanding, build internal capabilities, and promote a culture of compliance and awareness.
  • • Furthermore, you will extend your support to labor law topics and employee relations matters in other European countries, working in close coordination with local HR and legal teams to ensure a consistent and legally sound approach across the EMEA region.
  • • This role requires a significant commitment to travel, approximately 50%, including international destinations, to engage with various Novanta sites and stakeholders across Europe. You will be expected to maintain a regular presence at our key German locations in Berlin, Ludwigsstadt, and Wackersdorf.
