📋 Description
- • Own the end-to-end architecture of a high-throughput financial platform that processes millions of transactions per day, designing resilient microservices that guarantee 99.99 % uptime for our global customer base.
- • Translate complex product requirements into elegant technical designs, balancing immediate business needs with long-term scalability, while continuously refactoring legacy components to reduce technical debt and improve system maintainability.
- • Lead cross-functional "tiger teams" composed of backend, frontend, DevOps, and data engineers to deliver mission-critical initiatives such as real-time fraud detection pipelines, multi-currency settlement engines, and PCI-compliant data vaults.
- • Establish and evangelize engineering best practices—code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD guardrails, and observability standards—that enable a growing team of 30+ engineers to ship faster without compromising quality or security.
- • Serve as the go-to authority for performance tuning and capacity planning, leveraging distributed tracing, load testing, and chaos engineering to ensure our services gracefully handle 10× traffic spikes during Black-Friday-scale events.
- • Mentor senior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, architecture deep-dives, and brown-bag sessions, turning tribal knowledge into reusable patterns documented in our internal tech wiki and open-source style guides.
- • Collaborate directly with Product, Risk, and Compliance teams to prioritize the technical roadmap, translating regulatory requirements (PCI-DSS, PSD2, SOC 2) into concrete engineering tasks with clear success metrics and delivery timelines.
- • Champion a culture of experimentation by introducing proof-of-concept spikes for emerging technologies—such as event sourcing, zero-downtime PostgreSQL migrations, and cost-efficient Graviton-based AWS workloads—that keep us ahead of the curve.
- • Drive incident response and post-mortems for Sev-1 outages, transforming root-cause analyses into actionable runbooks and architectural improvements that prevent recurrence and strengthen customer trust in our payment rails.
- • Contribute hands-on code (≈40 % of your time) in Golang for new microservices and critical hotfixes, ensuring your architectural decisions are battle-tested and that you remain deeply connected to the codebase and developer experience.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of backend software engineering with demonstrable expertise in designing, building, and operating distributed systems at scale.
- • Advanced proficiency in Golang (preferred) or proven ability to ramp up quickly from Java, C++, or C# while applying idiomatic patterns and performance best practices.
- • Hands-on experience with containerized microservices on Kubernetes, including service mesh, autoscaling, and blue-green or canary deployments.
- • Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL at scale—query optimization, partitioning, logical replication—and familiarity with AWS managed data services (Aurora, DynamoDB, MSK).
- • Prior work in fintech, payments, or similarly regulated environments with exposure to PCI-DSS, AML, or fraud-prevention workflows.
- • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for async collaboration with colleagues across São Paulo, Toronto, and San Francisco time zones.
