- • The Implementation BESS Manager (f/m/x) at IONITY GmbH is responsible for leading the planning, coordination, and execution of Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects across IONITY’s charging network in Europe, ensuring seamless integration of storage solutions to enhance grid stability, optimize energy use, and support the expansion of ultra-fast charging infrastructure.
- • Day to day, the role involves managing cross-functional project timelines, coordinating with internal teams (engineering, operations, grid connection) and external partners (EPC contractors, system integrators, utilities), overseeing site readiness, conducting technical reviews, tracking milestones, managing risks and issues, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards throughout the BESS implementation lifecycle.
- • IONITY GmbH is a joint venture of major automotive manufacturers (BMW Group, Daimler Truck AG, Ford Motor Company, Hyundai Motor Group, and Volkswagen Group) operating Europe’s leading ultra-fast charging network for electric vehicles, with over 400 charging stations and a mission to enable sustainable long-distance e-mobility through reliable, high-power charging infrastructure.
- • In this role, the person will develop deep expertise in energy storage systems and grid integration within the EV charging sector, gain end-to-end project management experience in complex infrastructure deployments, strengthen stakeholder coordination skills across technical and commercial domains, and contribute directly to IONITY’s innovation roadmap by enabling smarter, more resilient charging operations through BESS technology.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience in managing technical infrastructure projects, preferably in energy, utilities, or EV charging sectors
- • Strong understanding of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including technical specifications, safety standards, and grid interaction principles
- • Excellent project management skills with experience in coordinating cross-functional teams and external contractors
- • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation
- • Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken
- • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits and stakeholder meetings across Europe
