Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Senior Security Engineer responsible for building and maintaining security tooling, automation, and processes that ensure application security across the software lifecycle, making security invisible to developers and unavoidable by default.
- • Day-to-day includes owning vulnerability management, integrating security into CI/CD pipelines, leveraging AI for code automation and analysis, improving telemetry usage, collaborating with engineering teams to influence secure development practices, investigating security findings, and adapting quickly to shifting priorities in an agile environment.
- • Part of Hopper’s small but impactful Security team within a fast-growing, well-funded travel fintech company serving hundreds of millions of travelers globally through its B2C app and B2B division HTS.
- • Opportunity to build intelligent security systems at scale, influence engineering culture around security, use AI as a force multiplier, and gain deep impact in a high-autonomy, builder-focused role with global collaboration in French and English.
🎯 Requirements
- • At least 5 years of experience in software and/or platform engineering with ability to design, build, and maintain production-quality tools
- • Deep experience in application security and vulnerability management, including understanding of CVEs, dependency risks, container security, and SDLC integration
- • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, ideally GCP/GKE or equivalent, with ability to adapt to Hopper’s stack
- • Demonstrated habit of using AI tools (coding assistants, LLMs) as a core part of building and analyzing, not just as occasional shortcuts
- • Strong bias toward automation — instinct to write tools for repetitive manual tasks rather than create runbooks
- • Comfort with ambiguity and ownership — ability to make independent judgments on priority, approach, and scope without waiting for direction
- • Experience influencing engineering culture around security to make developers care without slowing them down
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both French and English, including ability to articulate security posture to customers
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and pre-IPO equity upside in a well-funded, proven startup with large ambitions
- • 100% coverage of group insurance premiums by Hopper
- • Life, short-term, and long-term disability coverage
- • Health Spending Account (HSA) for eligible medical and dental expenses
- • Access to Dialogue telemedicine services for employees and dependents, anytime, anywhere
- • RRSP plan with automatic pre-tax withdrawals per pay
- • Very generous parental leave, well above industry standards
- • Unlimited PTO (vacation)
- • Carrot Cash travel stipend
- • Access to co-working spaces via FlexDesk and work-from-home stipend
- • Entrepreneurial culture with open communication, small dynamic teams, and massive impact
