📋 Description

• Architect and ship production-grade features that move millions of riders every month. You will own the full lifecycle—from writing React/TypeScript on the front end to designing scalable back-end services—ensuring every line of code directly improves paratransit, microtransit, and fixed-route experiences for cities on five continents.
• Lead the technical design and implementation of next-generation products such as human-like voice booking flows, AI-driven dispatch automation, and accessibility-first mobile apps. Your work will be showcased in live demos to transit agencies and directly influence product roadmaps.
• Mentor junior developers through pair programming, code reviews, and weekly knowledge-sharing sessions. You will set coding standards, champion best practices, and help the team level-up while fostering Spare’s culture of psychological safety and continuous learning.
• Refine and scale our micro-service architecture running on GCP, Docker, and Kubernetes. You will identify performance bottlenecks, propose architectural improvements, and implement monitoring that keeps our 99.9 % uptime promise to riders who depend on us for medical appointments, daily commutes, and late-night rides home.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, UX Designers, Data Scientists, and Customer Success to translate complex transit regulations and rider feedback into elegant, maintainable software. You will participate in design sprints, estimate work accurately, and deliver features that delight both internal operators and end-users.
• Drive OKR achievement by shipping high-impact, reliable features at velocity. You will measure success through metrics such as reduced booking time, increased trip completion rates, and decreased customer support tickets, iterating quickly based on real-world data.
• Champion process improvements—from CI/CD pipelines to automated testing suites—that reduce deployment friction and increase developer happiness. You will run blameless post-mortems, introduce new tooling, and ensure every release is safer than the last.
• Contribute to Spare’s open-source initiatives and internal tech talks, sharing your expertise in accessibility (ADA/WCAG), cloud-native patterns, or React performance tuning. Your voice will shape the broader engineering community both inside and outside the company.

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of professional full-stack software development experience
• 2+ years of professional experience with React and TypeScript
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with product teams in a SaaS environment
• Strong understanding of business and strategic factors in software projects, with proven skill in task prioritization and accurate time estimation
• (Nice-to-have) Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or Google Cloud Platform
• (Nice-to-have) Knowledge of accessibility standards such as ADA and WCAG
