📋 Description

  • Assist in the simulation, analysis, and troubleshooting of power electronics systems focused on energy storage and data center applications under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Work on cutting-edge technologies including grid-interactive inverters, solid-state transformers, DC distribution systems, and microgrid architectures as part of Energy Vault’s Independent Power Producer (IPP) model.
  • Support the development and validation of control algorithms for power converters used in battery and clean hydrogen energy storage systems.
  • Participate in system-level testing and data collection for large-scale energy storage sites, contributing to performance optimization and reliability assessments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, controls, and operations engineers to integrate power electronics solutions with AI/ML-powered EMS and energy trading platforms.
  • Apply theoretical knowledge of power systems to real-world scenarios involving renewable integration, grid stability, and dispatchable power delivery.
  • Document technical findings, test results, and design iterations in accordance with company engineering standards and project documentation protocols.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to industry-standard tools for power system modeling, simulation, and analysis, including MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or equivalent platforms.
  • Contribute to the design evaluation of advanced power conversion topologies tailored for high-efficiency, high-reliability energy storage applications.
  • Attend engineering reviews, team meetings, and technical briefings to understand project timelines, constraints, and performance metrics.
  • Support the Energy Vault Solution team in advancing integrated solutions that combine battery storage, clean hydrogen technologies, and intelligent control systems.
  • Observe and learn best practices in power infrastructure development aligned with Energy Vault’s global operations across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
  • Engage with mentors and industry experts to deepen understanding of grid-scale energy storage challenges and emerging market demands.
  • Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and engineering compliance standards during lab, field, and simulation-based activities.
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and a final technical summary presentation outlining key contributions, learnings, and recommendations from the internship.

🎯 Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated coursework or project experience in power systems, power converters, inverters, or energy storage technologies
  • Familiarity with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, or similar power system analysis software
