📋 Description

• This internship is for a UAV Pilot & Flight Operations role at Fiducial, a fast-growing deep-tech start-up focused on advanced UAV situational awareness for military applications. The role is critical to ensuring UAV platforms are flight-ready and reliable for testing and deployment of perception and autonomy systems.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include piloting and operating UAV platforms (FPV drones, multirotors like Holybro X650, fixed-wing UAVs), performing pre- and post-flight checks, maintaining airframes and propulsion systems, troubleshooting flight readiness issues, preparing platforms for test days (charging batteries, updating firmware, verifying configurations), supporting field testing of embedded perception software, soldering and repairing wiring, 3D-printing parts, and assisting with flight controller tuning (ArduPilot, Betaflight).
• Fiducial is a young, innovative start-up based in the Aerospace Innovation Hub at TU Delft, working with government agencies, prime contractors, and research institutes. The team comprises engineers from Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Computational Science, and Computer Graphics, passionate about pushing the boundaries of autonomy and perception in defence technology.
• The intern will gain hands-on experience with real UAV systems, develop practical skills in flight operations and hardware maintenance, contribute to cutting-edge defence technology, and work in a fast-paced environment with tight feedback loops, enabling rapid learning and ownership of technical improvements.

🎯 Requirements

• Enrolled in a relevant study program (Aerospace, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or similar)
• Basic Linux skills
• Strong interest in UAVs, flight operations, robotics, embedded systems, or autonomy
• English proficiency
• Organized and proactive working style
• Driver’s license
• Drone pilot license or similar flight certification
