đź“‹ Description
- • Allica Bank is on a mission to support established Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs), a segment of the market that has historically been underserved by both traditional banking institutions and modern fintech solutions. As the UK's fastest-growing company and the fastest-growing financial technology firm ever, Allica Bank is revolutionizing how SMEs access finance, empowering them to thrive and contribute to the backbone of local communities and the broader economy.
- • As an Invoice Finance Underwriter, you will play a pivotal role within the Credit Risk Management Team, reporting directly to the Lead Credit Underwriter. This position is central to the success of our Invoice Finance operations, requiring a keen eye for detail, robust analytical capabilities, and a proactive approach to risk management.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously assess and underwrite new business applications for invoice finance facilities. You will collaborate closely with Business Development Managers (BDMs) to evaluate proposals received through various channels, ensuring all underwriting decisions align strictly with Allica Bank's approved Credit Policy and risk appetite.
- • A critical aspect of this role involves managing the end-to-end application process. This requires seamless communication and coordination with multiple internal departments, including the sales team to gather necessary information, the legal team to ensure all security instructions are correctly documented, and the payment operations team to facilitate smooth and secure draw-downs.
- • Beyond new business, you will also work hand-in-hand with Account Managers to actively monitor and manage our existing portfolio of invoice finance customers. This proactive portfolio management is essential for maintaining target credit risk performance, supporting sustainable portfolio growth, and identifying any potential risks or opportunities early on.
- • You will be empowered to contribute to the continuous improvement of our underwriting processes. This includes identifying inefficiencies, proposing solutions, and actively participating in the implementation of new procedures designed to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen credit oversight, and maintain the highest standards of risk management.
- • The role demands the production of clear, accurate, and concise written documentation for all underwriting decisions. For applications that fall outside your personal discretion or deviate from established credit policy, you will be responsible for crafting well-reasoned recommendations to the Credit team and escalating cases to the appropriate Delegated Lending Authorities when necessary.
- • You will undertake regular checks and diligently monitor agreed controls to ensure that both risk parameters and customer requirements are consistently met. Any areas of concern or potential breaches must be escalated immediately to the relevant parties for prompt resolution.
- • A significant part of your role will involve managing a portfolio of customers from a credit risk perspective, adhering to a defined monitoring policy. This requires a deep understanding of each client's financial health and operational performance.
- • Delivering an exceptional service experience to our customers, their brokers, and internal Relationship Managers is paramount. You will be expected to build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships, embodying Allica Bank's core values and upholding our defined customer experience standards.
- • Ensuring strict compliance with all mandatory policies, adherence to credit procedures, and maintaining robust internal credit controls are fundamental requirements of this position.
- • A thorough understanding and diligent compliance with all operational procedures, specific requirements, and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) are essential for the smooth functioning of the team and the bank.
- • You will contribute to the development of appropriate Management Information (MI) and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) indicators and reporting. Maintaining suitable MI is crucial for enabling a detailed and insightful understanding of our portfolio's performance and risk profile.
- • We are committed to your professional growth. You will be expected to establish and actively manage a personal development plan to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
- • Proactively identify areas for improvement across the Invoice Finance team and the product offering. Taking ownership for the delivery of these improvements, and setting a positive example through your values and behaviour, will be highly valued.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing, innovative bank that is making a real difference to the SME sector. You will be instrumental in shaping our credit risk strategy and contributing to our ambitious growth plans.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 2 years of direct experience in underwriting SME invoice finance facilities.
- • Proven ability in credit and financial analysis, including the assessment of financial accounts, budgets, and cash flow forecasting.
- • Strong understanding of the invoice finance facility underwriting process, associated risks, and the ability to make commercial decisions within personal discretion.
- • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial information clearly and concisely.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Comprehensive onboarding support and ongoing professional development opportunities.
- • Flexible and hybrid working options to support work-life balance.
- • Competitive pension contributions.
- • Discretionary bonus scheme.
- • Private health cover.
- • Life assurance.
