📋 Description

• Pareto AI, Inc. is seeking an experienced IT Operations consultant to support high-impact infrastructure, systems, and security projects on a part-time, project-based basis. This role is critical to strengthening the company’s operational readiness, streamlining its technology stack, and improving security and access management as it scales globally and prepares for future growth, audits, and potential M&A activity.
• The ideal candidate will act as a strategic executor who can rapidly assess fragmented environments, identify risks and inefficiencies, and implement practical, scalable solutions that enhance security, organization, and long-term maintainability without overengineering.
• Day-to-day responsibilities include leading the renewal assessment for Slack by reviewing usage, auditing connected tools and workflows, and providing recommendations on contract optimization and cost effectiveness; auditing and cleaning up Google Workspace and Slack accounts, focusing on user access, permissions, inactive accounts, group structure, and admin hygiene; assessing the current state of IT systems, documentation, and controls to improve audit and M&A readiness; identifying gaps in asset management, access controls, documentation, vendor management, and security practices, then recommending and implementing remediation plans;
• Recommending, designing, and implementing improvements to streamline the tools and systems environment, including consolidating redundant platforms where appropriate; strengthening security posture through the implementation or enhancement of single sign-on (SSO), identity and access management, device controls, and automated provisioning/deprovisioning processes;
• Establishing intuitive, scalable user provisioning systems for onboarding, offboarding, and role changes; evaluating current tools to reduce unnecessary complexity; proposing and implementing systems for equipment tracking, device administration, and core IT asset management;
• Setting up and improving internal systems, networks, and technology infrastructure to support business growth and reduce operational friction; creating practical documentation, workflows, and standards that improve long-term maintainability and operational readiness;
• Partnering with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, people, and leadership to prioritize projects and deliver improvements with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as an IT Consultant, IT Manager, Systems Administrator, or similar role in a fast-paced company environment
• Experience managing and optimizing Slack, Google Workspace, identity providers, and SaaS tool ecosystems
• Strong understanding of SSO, identity and access management, provisioning/deprovisioning, and security best practices
• Experience preparing companies for audits, diligence requests, compliance reviews, or M&A-related operational readiness
• Experience with IT asset management, equipment tracking, endpoint administration, and systems documentation
• Ability to assess a fragmented environment, set priorities, and implement practical solutions quickly
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams at once
• Clear communicator who can explain technical tradeoffs and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
• Hands-on, resourceful, and comfortable operating both strategically and tactically
