- • Join WEX Inc. as a Junior Software Engineer and become an integral part of our Benefits Technology team, where you will contribute to building the next generation of employer benefits solutions and services. This role is designed for passionate technologists, collaborators, and problem solvers eager to simplify the business of running a business by reducing complexity and managing costs associated with benefits administration for our clients and partners.
- • In this dynamic position, you will collaborate closely with Product Managers and customers to gain a deep understanding of the challenges employers face in the competitive employee benefits landscape. Your primary focus will be on designing and implementing high-quality software solutions that effectively address these problems in ways that delight our customers and align with our business objectives.
- • You will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge solutions using the latest technologies and adhering to test-driven development (TDD) practices. This involves a hands-on approach to coding, testing, and instrumenting new features and functionalities, ensuring robustness and reliability from the outset.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to strengthen and drive our engineering processes, embracing methodologies such as TDD, Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), Microservice architectures, and Vertical Slice Architectures. This commitment to modern architectural patterns and development practices will ensure scalability, maintainability, and agility.
- • You will also play a crucial role in supporting live applications, promoting proactive monitoring to identify potential issues before they impact users, ensuring rapid incident response when necessary, and driving continuous improvement across our systems.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to analyzing existing systems and processes to pinpoint bottlenecks and identify opportunities for enhancement. This analytical approach will be vital in optimizing performance and efficiency.

- • Engage in the full software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
- • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in languages such as C# and Python, utilizing modern frameworks and libraries.
- • Develop and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring seamless integration between different services and systems.
- • Implement comprehensive unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality, reliability, and adherence to TDD principles.
- • Contribute to the design and implementation of microservices and event-driven architectures, leveraging technologies like Kafka.
- • Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to peers and incorporating feedback into your own work.
- • Troubleshoot and debug issues in development, testing, and production environments, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Management, QA, and Operations, to deliver high-quality software on schedule.
- • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities to apply new tools and techniques to improve our software development processes and product offerings.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our CI/CD pipelines, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery.
- • Gain hands-on experience with cloud-native development, containerization (Docker), and modern database technologies.
