  • • As a Lead AI Engineer at Lyric, you will spearhead the development of intelligent systems that transform unstructured healthcare documents into structured, actionable data—directly contributing to reduced payment errors, lower administrative waste, and improved care affordability for payers, providers, and patients. Your work will be foundational to Lyric’s mission of simplifying the business of care through AI-first innovation, leveraging 35 years of industry expertise and award-winning technology to drive measurable impact in healthcare integrity.
  • • You will lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI/ML systems for document understanding, including architecture decisions, model selection, data pipeline construction, and production integration—ensuring solutions are scalable, compliant, and aligned with product and regulatory requirements in a highly regulated healthcare environment.
  • • Day to day, you will: architect and build robust AI/ML systems for ingesting, processing, and extracting data from PDFs, scanned forms, and free-text clinical and administrative documents; curate and validate high-quality training datasets with rigorous verification protocols; fine-tune and deploy SLMs/LLMs (e.g., Llama, Deepseek) for tasks like entity recognition, summarization, and semantic parsing; design and implement NLP pipelines combining OCR (Tesseract, Amazon Textract), NER, text classification, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) with vector databases; integrate LLMs with structured outputs via APIs and downstream systems for seamless consumption by claims adjudication and analytics platforms; collaborate with product, compliance, and clinical teams to translate business needs into technically sound, auditable AI solutions; mentor and grow a team of AI/ML engineers by establishing best practices in model training, evaluation, monitoring, and MLOps; and continuously evaluate emerging generative AI techniques to solve real-world document challenges in healthcare.

  • • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in production-grade generative AI systems, gain hands-on leadership experience scaling LLMs in regulated environments, and become a trusted authority in healthcare document AI—positioning yourself at the forefront of applied AI in one of the most complex and impactful domains, with opportunities to publish, present, and shape industry standards.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with at least three (3) years in a technical or team leadership role
  • • Hands-on experience building and deploying S/LLMs or generative AI applications (e.g., using Llama, Deepseek or similar frameworks)
  • • Proven track record of extracting structured data from unstructured document sources, including scanned forms, free-text reports, and complex layouts
  • • Strong software engineering skills in Python and ML frameworks (e.g., Kubeflow, PyTorch, multi-agentic frameworks)
  • • Experience with OCR technologies (e.g., Tesseract, Amazon Textract), NLP techniques, and model deployment in production environments
  • • Deep understanding of NLP methods including embeddings, transformers, named entity recognition (NER), and text classification
  • • Familiarity with MLOps, version control, CI/CD, and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
