• • As a Lead Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the company's customer acquisition strategy. This pivotal role involves a dynamic blend of technical leadership and hands-on coding, with approximately 50% of your time dedicated to managing a team and the other 50% to direct development.
• • You will take ownership of the entire lower acquisition funnel, from the initial flow start through the checkout process, impacting all Maximus protocols. Your primary objective will be to maximize the conversion rate from flow start to checkout (CVR), ensuring a seamless and effective user journey.
• • A critical aspect of your role will be to maintain a "M1 Retention guardrail," meaning you must balance conversion optimization with user quality. Every experiment you implement will include a built-in quality check to ensure that increased conversion doesn't come at the expense of long-term customer retention and value.
• • You will lead a dedicated team of engineers, fostering their growth and development through regular one-on-one meetings, pair programming sessions, constructive code reviews, and insightful career conversations. Your leadership will be key to building a high-performing and motivated engineering unit.
• • Collaboration will be central to your success. You will work closely with a Senior Product Manager and a Senior Designer to conceptualize, design, and implement growth initiatives. You will report directly to the Head of Engineering, contributing to the overall technical vision and strategy of the company.
• • A significant part of your responsibility will be to design and execute protocol-level A/B experiments. This includes optimizing signup flows, checkout processes, plan pricing structures, and product recommendation engines, leveraging data from Amplitude to drive decisions.
• • You will be responsible for shipping full-stack features across the acquisition funnel, utilizing the company's core technologies: Ruby on Rails for the backend and React with TypeScript for the frontend.
• • You will play a crucial role in iterating and continuously optimizing the plan and pricing architecture, which includes managing integrations with payment platforms like Stripe and Klarna.
• • Building and maintaining the experimentation infrastructure that your team relies on will be a key technical contribution, ensuring robust and scalable testing capabilities.
• • You will partner closely with the data engineering team to instrument cohort-level M1 retention tracking for each experiment, providing essential data for quality assessment.
• • A forward-thinking aspect of this role involves driving the adoption of AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code and Devin, to enhance shipping velocity and overall development efficiency across the team.
• • The role demands a deep understanding of funnel and cohort analysis, moving beyond feature-centric development to a more holistic, data-driven approach to growth.
• • You will be working within a modern tech stack that includes Ruby on Rails 7, Ruby 3.3, React 18, and TypeScript 5.4. The architecture is event-sourced with a command pattern, utilizing PostgreSQL, Redis, and Delayed Job. Payment processing is handled by Stripe and Klarna. Analytics and experimentation are powered by Amplitude and Segment, with Redux managing frontend state. Infrastructure is managed on AWS/GCP using Docker and Aptible, with GitHub Actions for CI/CD and Cypress for E2E testing.
