• • As the Lead Product Designer for Agentic Product Experience and Design Platform at tem, you will spearhead the evolution of our AI-native transaction infrastructure, focusing on creating transparent, fair, and accessible energy markets. This is a pivotal Individual Contributor role, designed for someone who thrives on tackling complex, foundational design challenges that extend beyond the scope of typical team-based delivery. You will be the singular, accountable design owner for tem's entire design platform and product experience. This encompasses everything from interaction patterns, UI foundations, and design tokens to reusable components, design-to-code contracts, and the development of AI-enabled workflows that ensure high craft is scalable and consistently applied across the organization.
• • You will operate with the scope, authority, and expectations of a Lead IC, driving end-to-end design outcomes for critical product surfaces. Your responsibilities will span the entire design lifecycle, from initial problem framing and conceptualization through to the delivery of production-quality user experiences and interfaces. A key aspect of this role is to serve as the primary ‘taste maker’ for the next generation of Agentic experiences within the energy sector, setting the standard for innovation and user-centricity in an AI-first product environment.
• • A significant part of your mandate will be to build and refine the AI-native design platform. This platform is crucial for making product delivery predictable and efficient through AI. You will achieve this by defining semantic tokens, establishing reusable components, and creating flexible layouts that empower product builders to rapidly prototype and ship high-quality features. This involves a deep understanding of how to structure design systems to be both robust and adaptable, especially in the context of evolving AI capabilities.
• • You will be instrumental in designing interaction systems specifically for AI, ensuring these systems scale effectively. This means defining clear patterns, constraints, and behaviours that maintain consistency and predictability as the AI-first product landscape expands and new functionalities are introduced. The goal is to create a seamless and intuitive user experience, even as the underlying AI technology becomes more sophisticated and integrated.
• • A core challenge and opportunity in this role is to solve complex product constraints in the open. This requires navigating the inherent trade-offs between speed of delivery, quality of the user experience, consistency across the product, accessibility standards, and the practical realities of technical implementation. Your ability to make informed decisions and articulate the rationale behind them will be crucial for aligning cross-functional teams.
• • You will be responsible for setting clear design narratives and establishing decision-quality standards that emphasize trust, clarity, and exceptional craft. This involves championing best practices and ensuring that design decisions are not only intentional but also repeatable and scalable across the organization. Making design quality visible and explicit will build confidence among stakeholders and product teams.
• • Embracing an AI-first approach to how work is shipped is paramount. You will actively apply AI to prototyping, iteration, and production support, ensuring these applications are reliable, well-governed, and enhance the design and development process. This includes exploring and implementing AI tools that can augment the capabilities of the design and engineering teams.
• • Orchestrating collaboration across Product, Engineering, Data, and other partner teams will be essential. You will influence without direct authority, leveraging structured communication, a deep understanding of user needs, and the demonstrable quality of your design work to build consensus and drive alignment. Your ability to translate complex technical and design concepts into clear, actionable insights will be key to fostering strong working relationships.
