đź“‹ Description
- • As a Lead Software Engineer - Performance at Deputy Systems Inc., you will be a pivotal senior individual contributor, entrusted with the critical responsibility of owning and spearheading initiatives to enhance the performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency of Deputy’s core Workforce Management platform. This is a highly specialized and hands-on role, demanding deep technical expertise and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
- • You will delve into the heart of our core Workforce Management domains, including Scheduling, Timesheets, Leave, and Compliance. Your primary focus will be on meticulously identifying performance bottlenecks, uncovering legacy system constraints, and pinpointing architectural inefficiencies that hinder optimal operation.
- • Once identified, you will take the lead in conceptualizing, planning, and driving end-to-end initiatives to effectively address these challenges. This involves not just diagnosing problems but architecting and implementing robust solutions that ensure our platform operates at peak performance.
- • This role offers a high degree of autonomy. You will be empowered to form and lead performance-focused initiatives, often operating independently of direct product management direction. This means you will be responsible for defining the problem space, shaping the technical strategy, breaking down complex work into manageable and deliverable milestones, and driving the execution of these initiatives.
- • Your leadership will be demonstrated through collaboration and influence, rather than direct line management. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including other engineering teams, product managers, and potentially SREs, to ensure buy-in, facilitate knowledge sharing, and drive the successful implementation of performance improvements.
- • The impact of your work will be profound, directly benefiting our mid-market and enterprise customers who operate at significant scale. You will be instrumental in supporting high-volume workloads that span multiple regions and time zones, ensuring the Deputy platform remains reliable, responsive, and cost-effective as data volumes, customer complexity, and overall usage continue to grow exponentially.
- • Deputy is committed to becoming an AI-native company. In this role, you will be empowered and expected to leverage AI tools and thinking in your day-to-day work. This includes utilizing AI for faster problem-solving, sparking innovative ideas, and exploring new ways of working to optimize performance and efficiency. You will have access to the necessary training, support, and freedom to use AI responsibly and creatively.
- • You will be responsible for conducting in-depth performance analysis using a variety of tools and techniques, including profiling, load testing, and monitoring. This analysis will form the basis for your recommendations and strategic planning.
- • You will design and implement performance optimizations at various levels of the stack, from database queries and API endpoints to caching strategies and infrastructure configurations.
- • Collaborating with engineering teams to embed performance best practices into the development lifecycle, including code reviews, architectural discussions, and the establishment of performance budgets.
- • Mentoring and guiding other engineers on performance-related topics, fostering a culture of performance excellence across the engineering organization.
- • Staying abreast of the latest trends and technologies in performance engineering, scalability, and cloud cost optimization, and evaluating their applicability to Deputy's platform.
- • Contributing to the architectural evolution of the platform, ensuring that performance and scalability are key considerations in all future design decisions.
- • You will be a champion for performance, advocating for its importance and ensuring it remains a top priority throughout the product development lifecycle.
- • This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives on complex challenges, enjoys deep technical dives, and is passionate about building highly performant and scalable systems that directly impact millions of users worldwide.
- • You will play a crucial role in ensuring Deputy's continued success and growth by maintaining and enhancing the underlying technical foundation of our market-leading workforce management solution.
- • Your contributions will directly influence customer satisfaction, operational costs, and the overall reliability of our service, making this a highly visible and impactful position within the company.
