• • As a Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will be instrumental in shaping the company's customer acquisition strategy and execution. This pivotal role involves a dynamic blend of technical leadership and hands-on coding, with an approximate 50/50 split between managing a team and contributing directly to the codebase. You will own the critical lower acquisition funnel, encompassing the entire journey from the initial flow start through the checkout process across all Maximus protocols.
• • Your primary objective, the north star metric, will be optimizing the conversion rate from Flow Start to Checkout (CVR). However, this pursuit of conversion is balanced by a crucial M1 Retention guardrail, ensuring that optimizations do not compromise user quality. Every experiment you implement will incorporate a built-in quality check to maintain this balance.
• • You will lead and mentor a dedicated team of engineers, collaborating closely with a Senior Product Manager and a Senior Designer. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will be a key player in driving the growth of our innovative telehealth platform.
• • Key responsibilities include delivering protocol-level A/B experiments focused on signup flows, checkout optimization, plan pricing strategies, and product recommendations, leveraging Amplitude for data-driven insights.
• • You will ship full-stack features across the acquisition funnel, utilizing our core technologies of Ruby on Rails and React.
• • A significant part of your role will involve coaching and developing your engineering team through regular one-on-one meetings, pair programming sessions, constructive code reviews, and meaningful career development conversations.
• • You will be responsible for the end-to-end ownership of experiment design, including meticulous sample sizing, precise metric selection, and navigating the inherent tension between CVR optimization and retention goals within a dual mandate framework.
• • You will continuously iterate and optimize the plan and pricing architecture, including seamless integration with payment platforms like Stripe and Klarna.
• • A critical aspect of your role is to build and maintain the robust experimentation infrastructure that your team relies upon for rapid iteration and deployment.
• • You will partner closely with the data engineering team to instrument cohort-level M1 retention tracking, ensuring that the impact of each experiment on long-term user engagement is accurately measured.
• • Furthermore, you will drive the adoption and effective utilization of AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code and Devin, to significantly enhance shipping velocity and overall development efficiency across the team.
• • Your technical contributions will span across our modern tech stack, including Ruby on Rails 7 / Ruby 3.3 and React 18 / TypeScript 5.4. You will work with an event-sourced architecture employing the command pattern, utilizing PostgreSQL, Redis, and Delayed Job for background processing.
• • Payment integrations with Stripe and Klarna for handling payments and installment plans will be part of your domain. You will leverage Amplitude for experimentation and analytics, and Segment for event collection.
• • On the frontend, you'll work with Redux, redux-loop, and Immutable.js. Your deployment and infrastructure experience will involve Docker, AWS/GCP, Aptible, and GitHub Actions for CI/CD. Robust end-to-end testing will be conducted using Cypress.
• • You will champion the integration of AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Devin into the team's daily workflow, fostering innovation and efficiency.
