• • As the Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the company's customer acquisition strategy. This pivotal role involves a dynamic 50/50 split between hands-on coding and team leadership, focusing on optimizing the entire lower acquisition funnel, from initial user flow to final checkout.
• • You will own the critical journey of a user signing up and completing a purchase across all Maximus protocols, with your primary objective being the conversion rate from flow start to checkout. This metric directly impacts the company's revenue and growth trajectory.
• • A key aspect of your role will be balancing conversion optimization with user quality, guided by a Monthly Active User (M1) Retention guardrail. Every experiment you implement must include a robust quality check to ensure that increased conversion doesn't come at the expense of long-term customer value.
• • You will lead and mentor a dedicated team of engineers, fostering their professional development through regular one-on-one meetings, pair programming sessions, constructive code reviews, and insightful career conversations. Your leadership will be crucial in building a high-performing and cohesive engineering unit.
• • A significant part of your responsibility will be the design and execution of A/B experiments. This includes meticulous planning of sample sizes, selection of appropriate metrics, and navigating the inherent tension between maximizing conversion rates and maintaining user retention.
• • You will be responsible for the continuous iteration and optimization of the plan and pricing architecture, which involves deep collaboration with payment platform integrations to ensure a seamless and efficient user experience.
• • Building and maintaining the experimentation infrastructure that your team relies upon will be a core duty, ensuring that the tools and systems are robust, scalable, and efficient.
• • You will partner closely with the data engineering team to implement and track cohort-level M1 retention metrics for each experiment, providing crucial data for performance analysis and future strategy.
• • Embracing the future of software development, you will drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools, such as Claude Code and Devin, across your team to significantly enhance shipping velocity and overall development efficiency.
• • Your technical contributions will span the full stack, utilizing Ruby on Rails for backend development and React with TypeScript for the frontend, delivering new features and improvements to the acquisition funnel.
• • You will collaborate closely with a Senior Product Manager and a Senior Designer, working within a two-week sprint cycle to prioritize and deliver on key growth initiatives.
• • Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will have a direct line of communication and influence on the company's technical direction and growth strategy.
