• • As the Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the company's customer acquisition strategy. This pivotal role involves a dynamic 50/50 split between hands-on coding and team leadership, focusing on optimizing the entire lower acquisition funnel, from the initial user flow through to the final checkout process across all Maximus health protocols.
• • Your primary objective, the north star metric, will be to maximize the conversion rate from Flow Start to Checkout. However, this pursuit of conversion must be balanced with a critical M1 Retention guardrail, ensuring that optimization efforts do not compromise user quality. Every experiment you implement will incorporate a built-in quality check to maintain this balance.
• • You will lead a dedicated team of engineers, collaborating closely with a Senior Product Manager and a Senior Designer. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you will play a key role in the engineering leadership team, contributing to both strategic direction and tactical execution.
• • A core responsibility will be delivering protocol-level A/B experiments. This involves designing, implementing, and analyzing experiments across signup flows, checkout experiences, plan pricing structures, and product recommendation engines, leveraging tools like Amplitude to derive actionable insights.
• • You will be responsible for shipping full-stack features that enhance the acquisition funnel, utilizing the company's core technology stack of Ruby on Rails and React.
• • As a leader, you will coach and develop your engineering team. This includes conducting regular 1:1 meetings, facilitating pair programming sessions, performing thorough code reviews, and engaging in meaningful career development conversations to foster growth and retention within the team.
• • You will own the end-to-end experiment design process. This encompasses defining sample sizes, selecting appropriate metrics, and skillfully navigating the inherent tension between conversion rate optimization and user retention, as dictated by the dual mandate.
• • A significant part of your role will involve iterating on and continuously optimizing the plan and pricing architecture. This includes managing and enhancing integrations with payment platforms like Stripe and Klarna to ensure a seamless and efficient checkout experience.
• • You will be tasked with building and maintaining the experimentation infrastructure that your team relies upon, ensuring its robustness, scalability, and efficiency.
• • Close partnership with the data engineering team will be essential to instrument cohort-level M1 retention tracking for each experiment, providing critical data for performance analysis and future iteration.
• • You will be a champion for the adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the team. By leveraging technologies such as Claude Code and Devin, you will aim to significantly increase shipping velocity and overall development efficiency, staying at the forefront of technological advancements in software development.
