Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Lead the design, development, and evolution of TimescaleDB Enterprise, the on-premises deployment and management platform for TimescaleDB, enabling enterprise customers to deploy, secure, and operate the database in their own environments.
- • Own end-to-end technical decisions across the product lifecycle, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and customer experience for core capabilities including management consoles, deployment workflows, operational tooling, configuration management, and customer administration interfaces.
- • Partner directly with enterprise customers and prospects to understand real-world operational pain points, translate them into product requirements, and build solutions that solve critical infrastructure challenges.
- • Drive new feature development and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, usability, operational simplicity, and long-term product evolution of the enterprise platform.
- • Collaborate closely with Platform Engineering, Product, Support, and Sales Engineering teams to align technical execution with customer needs and business goals.
- • Shape the long-term technical and product direction of the TimescaleDB Enterprise offering by identifying emerging enterprise requirements and prioritizing initiatives that deliver maximum customer impact.
- • Operate autonomously in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where priorities shift rapidly and engineers are expected to drive clarity, direction, and momentum without predefined playbooks.
- • Leverage AI tools daily to accelerate development tasks including debugging, documentation generation, code generation, and product iteration workflows.
- • Build foundational software products from early stages, iterating rapidly based on direct customer feedback and real-world usage patterns.
- • Think holistically about products — not just code — by considering customer workflows, operational realities, usability, and long-term maintainability in every engineering decision.
- • Communicate clearly and effectively across technical and non-technical stakeholders to align on priorities, explain trade-offs, and ensure successful delivery of complex enterprise features.
- • Prioritize solving meaningful customer problems over technical purity, demonstrating pragmatism in solution design while maintaining high engineering standards.
- • Contribute beyond implementation by actively participating in architecture reviews, product prioritization, operational planning, and direct customer conversations.
- • Work remotely with global team members, with strong preference for overlap with North American and European time zones to facilitate collaboration.
- • Maintain ownership of product quality, performance, and reliability across the entire enterprise stack, from backend services to user-facing operational interfaces.
- • Contribute to a culture of accountability, direct communication, and collaborative excellence as part of a remote-first, globally distributed team.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience building developer platforms, enterprise software, infrastructure products, operational tooling, or database-adjacent systems
- • Comfort working across multiple layers of a system, from backend services to operational workflows and user-facing tooling
- • Strong familiarity and proficiency with AI coding tools
- • Experience working directly with enterprise customers or highly technical users is a strong plus
- • Deep entrepreneurial mindset with a natural inclination toward ownership and initiative over waiting for direction
- • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, making thoughtful decisions with incomplete information and driving clarity in fast-moving startup settings
🏖️ Benefits
- • Flexible PTO and comprehensive family leave
- • Fridays off in August
- • Fully remote opportunities globally
- • Stock options for long-term growth
- • Monthly WiFi stipend
- • Professional development and educational resources
- • Premium insurance options for you and your family (US-based employees)
