Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant who thrives on precision, speed, and client service to support our Anchorage office. You will operate in a hybrid model—two days remote, three days in our vibrant downtown office—giving you the flexibility of home and the energy of a collaborative legal community.
  • • Own the life-cycle of client billing from start to finish. You will capture attorney time entries daily, run pre-bill diagnostics, apply client-specific billing guidelines, and shepherd invoices through multiple approval layers to ensure every dollar is defensible and every narrative crystal-clear. Your eagle-eye for detail keeps receivables low and client trust high.
  • • Champion new-matter intake like a seasoned air-traffic controller. From conflict checks and engagement letters to opening physical and electronic files, you will coordinate with Risk Management, Accounting, and IT to launch each new engagement without turbulence. Your checklist discipline means no deadline, statute, or court rule ever slips through the cracks.
  • • Draft, revise, and proofread contracts, settlement agreements, discovery responses, and correspondence under tight deadlines. You will turn rough partner notes into polished documents, apply house style, run compare-docs, and finalize signature packets—always anticipating the next revision cycle before it is requested.
  • • Curate and maintain impeccable files—both paper and digital. You will label, index, scan, and archive so that any partner can locate any document within seconds. Your version-control mastery eliminates the dreaded “which draft is final?” scramble.
  • • Orchestrate complex calendars and travel logistics across multiple time zones. Whether booking last-minute flights to a deposition in D.C. or arranging a multi-city client roadshow, you will balance attorney preferences, client demands, and budget realities with calm confidence.
  • • Serve as the first point of contact for clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel. Your polished phone manner and prompt email etiquette reinforce the firm’s reputation for responsiveness and professionalism.
  • • Contribute to a culture of inclusion and authenticity. At DWT, every role has a voice; you will participate in pro bono initiatives, diversity circles, and community outreach, knowing your work advances justice beyond billable hours.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 3+ years of legal secretarial or assistant experience in a law firm environment, including hands-on client billing and document-drafting responsibilities
  • • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Elite 3E or similar time-and-billing platform, and document-management systems such as iManage
  • • Demonstrated ability to draft, proofread, and edit complex legal documents with meticulous attention to grammar, formatting, and Bluebook citation style
  • • Proven track record of managing multiple attorney calendars, arranging domestic and international travel, and coordinating logistics under pressure
  • • Nice-to-have: Paralegal certificate or bachelor’s degree; experience in litigation, energy, or natural-resources practice areas; familiarity with Alaskan court rules and e-filing portals
