- • As a Linux Systems Administrator at Vultr, you will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing the Linux-based infrastructure that powers Vultr’s global cloud services, directly contributing to the reliability, scalability, and performance experienced by hundreds of thousands of customers across 185 countries.
- • You will design, configure, and implement Linux system upgrades and infrastructure changes to support platform expansion, ensuring secure, high-performance environments that align with Vultr’s mission to deliver affordable, accessible cloud infrastructure for enterprises and AI innovators worldwide.
- • Day to day, you will administer and maintain Linux servers and services (CentOS, Debian, Ubuntu), applying deep systems-level troubleshooting to diagnose and resolve complex performance, stability, or security issues across applications, networking, and virtualization layers.
- • You will serve as a technical escalation point for Linux-related incidents, conducting root cause analysis and determining appropriate remediation strategies while collaborating with engineering and operations teams to support new data center deployments and system migrations.
- • You will monitor system performance and security posture, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to maintain compliance with internal and external security standards, including hardening server and application architectures.
- • You will develop and maintain automation, scripts, and tooling using Bash, Python, or similar languages to improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support consistent administration across distributed systems.
- • You will produce and maintain technical documentation, system diagrams, and operational standards to ensure knowledge sharing, consistency, and scalability as Vultr continues to grow its global footprint.
- • You will partner cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and data center teams to align systems administration efforts with platform reliability, scalability, and business objectives, contributing to Vultr’s position as the world’s largest privately-held cloud infrastructure company.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in enterprise Linux administration, virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, VMware), distributed storage (e.g., Ceph), load balancing, and core networking, while gaining hands-on experience with web servers, databases, caching solutions, and firewalls in a high-growth, innovative cloud environment.

🎯 Requirements
- • Strong proficiency administering Linux systems, including CentOS, Debian, and Ubuntu distributions
- • Experience applying systems-level troubleshooting and analysis to resolve non-routine technical issues in complex environments
- • Familiarity with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or similar for automation and tooling
- • Hands-on experience configuring and supporting web servers, databases and caching solutions, and firewalls
- • Demonstrated understanding of server and application architecture, security hardening, virtualization technologies, distributed storage (e.g., Ceph), load balancing, and core networking concepts
- • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, operations, and data center teams
