Our innovative model combines the expertise of seasoned operators with purpose-built Artificial Intelligence to streamline critical tasks such as client intake, claim initiation, medical record management, police report acquisition, lien resolution, demand letter preparation, and all subsequent steps in the legal process.
• We are seeking talented Machine Learning Engineers who are passionate about applying cutting-edge AI to solve complex, real-world challenges. The legal field is often characterized by repetitive tasks, significant administrative bottlenecks, and vast amounts of unstructured data hidden within thousands of pages of documents. Your primary role will be to transform this complexity into clarity by developing, refining, and deploying sophisticated AI systems. This includes building and optimizing voice agents capable of natural interaction, browser agents that can navigate and extract information from web-based platforms, robust Optical Character Recognition (OCR) pipelines for document digitization, and intelligent Large Language Model (LLM)-powered workflows that are reliable and effective in production environments.
• You will be instrumental in the entire lifecycle of AI development, from rapid prototyping and rigorous experimentation to designing comprehensive evaluation frameworks and ultimately pushing the most successful solutions into production. This role demands close collaboration with our product, operations, and legal expert teams. This partnership is crucial to ensure we are addressing the most impactful problems and maximizing the performance of the AI tools at our disposal. You will gain hands-on experience across the spectrum of ML engineering, including model selection, fine-tuning parameters, sophisticated prompt engineering, and establishing effective feedback loops for continuous improvement. A key aspect of this role is staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI research, tools, and frameworks, enabling us to consistently elevate our capabilities and maintain our competitive edge.
• Key responsibilities will involve tackling challenging and often unstructured problems by building AI-powered systems designed to process intricate legal documents, engage in natural and effective conversations, and automate high-friction workflows for our law firm clients. You will be responsible for establishing and managing tight feedback loops, which includes designing and executing rigorous evaluation methodologies, actively collecting human feedback to guide model improvements, and iterating rapidly to enhance system accuracy, reliability, and overall performance.
• A significant part of your role will be to stay at the cutting edge of AI by actively tracking new research, emerging tools, and innovative frameworks, and strategically determining when and how to integrate them into our production systems. Deep collaboration will be essential as you partner closely with product managers, operations specialists, and legal experts to ensure that the solutions we develop are practical, effective, and directly address the real-world needs of our users and clients. Furthermore, you will be tasked with shipping solutions with a strong emphasis on safety, observability, and performance from the initial stages of development, ensuring robust and reliable deployment.
• This role is based in our New York City office, requiring in-person collaboration four days a week. This on-site presence is designed to foster high-context, high-speed collaboration, enabling rapid problem-solving and innovation within the team. We believe that this blend of focused remote work and intensive in-office collaboration is key to our success.

🎯 Requirements

• 3+ years of experience building and deploying production-grade Machine Learning systems, with a strong preference for experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), speech processing, or agent-based systems.
• Proficiency in moving across the technology stack, utilizing languages and tools such as Python, AWS, LangChain, OpenAI APIs, and React.
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and observable code, with a keen understanding of the importance of both experimental rigor and production stability.
• Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, demonstrating initiative and the capacity to make significant progress even without a perfectly defined specification.
• A genuine excitement for applied AI, with a clear understanding that small, impactful improvements can unlock substantial value for end-users and the business.
• A strong focus on achieving tangible outcomes rather than solely optimizing algorithms; the primary goal is to solve real-world problems effectively.
