Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead the design, development, and deployment of production-grade machine learning systems that power critical health and national security programs for federal agencies, directly impacting the readiness and well-being of millions of Americans.
- • Architect end-to-end ML pipelines that ingest, cleanse, and transform multi-terabyte datasets from disparate sources—including electronic health records, genomic sequences, satellite imagery, and real-time sensor feeds—into actionable intelligence using state-of-the-art cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- • Implement advanced NLP models to automate document analysis across vast repositories of clinical guidelines, research publications, and policy documents, reducing manual review time by 80% and accelerating evidence-based decision-making for public health initiatives.
- • Drive the adoption of MLOps best practices—CI/CD for models, automated retraining, A/B testing, and real-time monitoring—to ensure 99.9% uptime and sub-second latency for mission-critical inference services relied upon by military and civilian stakeholders.
- • Partner with cross-functional teams of epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and security analysts to translate complex operational challenges into well-scoped ML problems, delivering predictive models that forecast disease outbreaks, optimize resource allocation, and strengthen national security posture.
- • Pioneer novel applications of reinforcement learning and simulation to model population-level health interventions and defense scenarios, enabling policymakers to evaluate strategies before real-world deployment and saving both lives and taxpayer dollars.
- • Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks using statistical rigor and fairness metrics to validate model performance across diverse demographic groups, ensuring equitable outcomes in healthcare delivery and threat detection.
- • Mentor junior engineers and data scientists through code reviews, design sessions, and knowledge-sharing workshops, cultivating a culture of continuous learning that keeps DLH at the forefront of AI innovation in the federal sector.
- • Contribute to the open-source community by publishing reusable libraries and benchmark datasets, amplifying DLH’s reputation as a thought leader and attracting top-tier talent to the organization.
- • Present findings and recommendations to senior government officials and academic partners, translating complex technical concepts into clear, compelling narratives that secure funding and strategic buy-in for next-generation AI initiatives.
- • Continuously scan the horizon for emerging technologies—such as federated learning, differential privacy, and neuromorphic computing—that can be piloted within federal constraints to maintain technological superiority over adversaries and disease vectors alike.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying machine learning models in production environments, preferably within healthcare, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
- • Expert-level proficiency in Python and at least one deep-learning framework (TensorFlow, PyTorch, JAX) plus demonstrated ability to optimize models for scale using distributed training and GPU acceleration.
- • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals—algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis—and fluency in SQL and big-data technologies (Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-native equivalents).
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field; PhD preferred but not required if accompanied by exceptional industry accomplishments.
- • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance up to the Top Secret/SCI level.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Fully remote work environment with flexible hours and a one-time $2,000 home-office stipend to craft your ideal workspace.
- • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance with 100% premium coverage for employees and 75% for dependents, plus a $1,500 annual wellness allowance.
- • 20 days PTO, 11 federal holidays, and a paid volunteer day, alongside a 4-week paid sabbatical after every five years of service.
- • 401(k) with 6% company match, immediate vesting, and access to financial-planning advisors at no cost.
- • Annual professional-development budget of $5,000 for conferences, certifications, or advanced coursework, plus paid membership in leading ML communities.
