📋 Description

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Lead and Senior Analytics Engineers, fostering career growth, high performance, and a high-trust team culture.
• Stay deeply hands-on by writing and reviewing SQL/dbt code, driving technical design decisions, and upholding rigorous standards for craftsmanship, testing, and documentation across the Snowflake + dbt data stack.
• Own the roadmap for your team’s portion of the analytics platform, prioritizing initiatives that deliver maximum business impact while balancing delivery speed, data quality, and technical debt.
• Drive Forward’s centralized data vision by partnering with Business Intelligence and broader Analytics teams to design and deliver scalable data models, marts, and a reliable semantic layer that serves as the company’s single source of truth.
• Lead the build-out and governance of the semantic layer and standardized metrics, ensuring key business KPIs are defined once, consistently governed, and uniformly consumed across dashboards, predictive models, AI agents, and downstream products.
• Translate ambiguous business problems from senior stakeholders in Sales, Underwriting, Account Servicing, Finance, Risk, and Product into well-scoped, durable technical solutions, clearly communicating tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Champion data quality, observability, and governance by implementing robust testing, lineage tracking, data cataloging, and incident response processes to ensure stakeholder trust in all data outputs.
• Drive technical excellence in the dbt project through optimized model architecture, performance tuning, incremental model strategies, and scalable CI/CD practices that evolve with growing data volume and team size.
• Help shape and elevate the hiring bar for Analytics Engineering by actively participating in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding exceptional talent as the team expands.
• Partner with leadership to advance Forward’s AI-ready data foundation, including integration efforts with Snowflake Intelligence and other agent-based capabilities under strategic investment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure data products directly enable business intelligence, advanced analytics, predictive modeling, and next-generation AI-driven customer experiences.
• Maintain a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability of data infrastructure to support rapid growth in data volume, user base, and analytical complexity.
• Communicate technical progress, risks, and priorities clearly to senior leadership and cross-functional partners, aligning data initiatives with company-wide strategic goals.
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and technical mentorship within the Analytics Engineering team and across the broader data organization.

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence with a strong foundation in SQL and dimensional/data modeling.
• 2+ years of people management experience leading senior individual contributors, including driving performance and career development.
• Deep hands-on expertise with dbt and a cloud data warehouse (Snowflake strongly preferred), including incremental models, testing strategies, and macros.
• Demonstrated experience designing and operating a semantic or metrics layer that serves as a trusted source of truth across an organization.
• Track record of partnering directly with senior cross-functional leaders (Finance, Risk, Operations, Product, etc.) to translate business problems into durable data products.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to make complex technical decisions accessible to executives and non-technical partners.
