  • • Join Remote, a pioneering company revolutionizing global employment, as our Manager, Payroll Operations for the EMEA region. This is a fully remote, impactful role where you will be instrumental in shaping and executing our payroll strategy across diverse international markets.
  • • As the Manager, Payroll Operations, you will own the end-to-end payroll function, ensuring the timely, accurate, and compliant processing of payroll for our employees across various EMEA countries. Your leadership will directly contribute to the financial well-being and compliance of our global workforce.
  • • You will be responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing management of payroll operations, adhering strictly to country-specific government regulations, corporate policies, and internal procedures.
  • • This role demands a proactive and analytical approach, focusing on continuous improvement and the implementation of best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the payroll department.
  • • You will lead, mentor, and guide a dedicated payroll team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Your ability to unblock your team and provide them with the necessary support will be crucial for their success and the overall effectiveness of the department.
  • • A key aspect of this role involves serving as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related matters, liaising effectively with internal stakeholders (such as Finance, HR, and Legal) and external partners, including third-party payroll service providers and regulatory bodies.
  • • You will be tasked with managing and nurturing relationships with our existing payroll, accounting, and payroll service providers, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and that these partnerships are mutually beneficial and efficient.
  • • Developing and implementing robust key performance indicators (KPIs) and SLA metrics for the payroll team will be essential to monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure operational excellence.
  • • Staying abreast of evolving international payroll laws, regulations, and compliance requirements across the EMEA region is paramount. You will ensure that Remote remains compliant and ahead of any legislative changes that could impact payroll processing.
  • • This position requires a strong understanding of global payroll best practices and the ability to translate this knowledge into actionable strategies and processes for our unique operational context.
  • • You will play a vital role in the implementation of payroll systems and processes in multiple countries, contributing to Remote's expansion and operational readiness in new markets.
  • • Leveraging technology and automation will be a core focus. You will be encouraged to identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance data accuracy through the strategic use of software tools and potentially AI capabilities.
  • • As a "productivity geek," you will constantly seek innovative ways to improve workflows, speed up operations, and optimize the payroll function, aligning with Remote's core value of innovation.
  • • You will embrace and champion Remote's asynchronous work culture, understanding its importance in a globally distributed team and structuring your work and team's efforts to maximize productivity and flexibility.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant personal difference in the global employment landscape, contributing to Remote's mission of making international employment simple and compliant for businesses worldwide.
  • • You will report to the Senior Manager, Payroll Operations, and will be an integral part of the Global Payroll Operations team.
  • • The ideal candidate possesses a passion for people management, with a leadership style that empowers rather than micromanages, fostering growth and autonomy within the team.
  • • Your analytical mindset and exceptional problem-solving abilities will be critical in navigating the complexities of international payroll and resolving any discrepancies or challenges that arise.
  • • Adaptability is key in our fast-paced, international work environment. You will thrive in a dynamic setting, demonstrating a passion for making a tangible impact.
  • • Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken, are essential for effective collaboration across our global team and with external partners.
  • • This role is based in Spain, and we encourage applications from candidates within the EMEA region, prioritizing diversity and inclusion.
  • • You will be empowered to take ownership, be proactive, and default to action, embodying Remote's culture of initiative and continuous improvement.
  • • Your work-life balance is highly valued, and you will be encouraged to prioritize your well-being and family needs, fitting work around your life.
  • • You will contribute to building a best-in-class HR platform by bringing your unique talents, experiences, and cultural perspectives to the table.
  • • The annual salary range for this full-time position is €58,000 - €61,000 EUR, reflecting our commitment to fair and competitive compensation.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Extensive experience in regional/global payroll operations, with a proven track record of managing complex payroll processes across multiple countries.
  • • Deep understanding of global payroll best practices, compliance requirements, and statutory regulations across various jurisdictions, particularly within the EMEA region.
  • • Demonstrated experience in implementing payroll solutions in multiple countries and effectively managing relationships with third-party payroll service providers.
  • • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a philosophy of empowering and developing teams without micromanagement, coupled with a passion for automation and AI capabilities.
  • • Proficiency in using payroll software and tools, including advanced skills in Excel/Google Sheets, and experience with systems like SAP is highly desirable.
  • • An analytical mindset with excellent problem-solving abilities, a proactive approach, and a passion for continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
  • • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international, and asynchronous work environment, demonstrating a strong desire to make an impact and a "productivity geek" mentality.
  • • Fluent written and spoken English communication skills.
