- • As the Manager, Payroll Operations for EMEA, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing the payroll strategy for a critical region within a rapidly growing global organization. This 9-month fixed-term contract role offers a unique opportunity to lead a dedicated payroll team, ensuring the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of payroll across multiple European countries.
- • You will own the end-to-end payroll function, from planning and implementation to ongoing operations and continuous improvement. This involves overseeing all payroll activities, ensuring adherence to local labor laws, tax regulations, and company policies, thereby mitigating risks and maintaining the highest standards of financial integrity.
- • A key aspect of your role will be to provide strong leadership, guidance, and mentorship to your direct reports within the Payroll team. You will foster a collaborative and high-performing environment, empowering your team to deliver exceptional results while promoting professional development and a positive work culture.
- • You will act as the primary point of contact for all payroll-related inquiries and issues, liaising effectively with internal stakeholders (including Finance, HR, and Legal departments) and external partners such as third-party payroll providers, tax authorities, and auditors.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to managing and nurturing relationships with these external service providers, ensuring they meet contractual obligations and deliver services that align with Remote's operational needs and compliance requirements.
- • A significant part of your contribution will involve developing and implementing robust payroll processes, best practices, and key performance indicators (KPIs). You will establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to monitor team performance, identify areas for enhancement, and drive operational efficiency.
- • You will be expected to stay abreast of evolving international payroll laws and regulations across the EMEA region, proactively identifying potential impacts on payroll operations and implementing necessary adjustments to ensure ongoing compliance.
- • This role demands a proactive and analytical approach to problem-solving. You will leverage your expertise to identify and address payroll discrepancies, process inefficiencies, and compliance gaps, implementing effective solutions.
- • Embracing Remote's core values, you will champion innovation, particularly in the areas of automation and AI, to streamline payroll processes, enhance accuracy, and improve overall efficiency. You will be a 'productivity geek,' constantly seeking opportunities to optimize workflows and leverage technology.
- • You will contribute to the continuous improvement of the global payroll infrastructure, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support the company's expansion and evolving business needs.
- • The role requires a strong understanding of global payroll best practices and the ability to adapt these to the specific nuances of the EMEA market.
- • You will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll data is accurate, secure, and managed in compliance with data privacy regulations.
- • This position is ideal for a seasoned payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced, international, and fully remote work environment. Your ability to work effectively asynchronously will be crucial to your success.
- • You will play a vital role in supporting Remote's mission to simplify global employment, ensuring that employees across the EMEA region are paid accurately and on time, contributing to a positive employee experience.
- • The successful candidate will be empowered to take ownership, be proactive, and default to action, aligning with Remote's culture of autonomy and results-driven performance.
- • This is a temporary role, providing a critical service during a period of growth and development for the company's payroll operations in EMEA.
🎯 Requirements
- • Extensive experience in regional/global payroll operations, with a strong understanding of EMEA payroll regulations and best practices.
- • Proven experience in implementing payroll systems and processes across multiple countries, including managing relationships with third-party payroll providers.
- • Proficiency in payroll software and tools, including advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills, and experience with systems like SAP.
- • Strong leadership and people management skills, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop a team without micromanaging.
