Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • As the Manager, Site Reliability Engineering for Government Cloud at Ping Identity, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the unwavering reliability, security, and compliance of our critical cloud services tailored for public sector clients. This pivotal role demands a leader who can guide a specialized team, champion automation, and meticulously manage the operational integrity of our FedRamp-authorized services, directly impacting our ability to secure and maintain Authorizations to Operate (ATO).
- • You will be responsible for leading, mentoring, and fostering the growth of a high-performing team of Site Reliability Engineers. This includes actively partnering with the People team to attract, recruit, and retain top-tier talent, ensuring we have the expertise needed to meet the unique challenges of government cloud environments.
- • Your oversight will extend to the availability, latency, performance, and capacity planning of all services operating within our FedRamp and DoD compliant environments. This requires a proactive approach to monitoring, identifying potential bottlenecks, and implementing solutions to ensure optimal service delivery.
- • A key responsibility will be the management of a global on-call rotation, implementing a follow-the-sun model to ensure continuous support and rapid response. You will lead the incident response process, orchestrating swift and effective resolutions, and conducting thorough, blameless post-mortems to identify root causes and implement preventative measures, all while meticulously satisfying stringent regulatory reporting requirements.
- • You will be a driving force behind the automation of our infrastructure, build/release processes, and day-to-day operations. The goal is to significantly reduce manual overhead, enhance overall reliability, and embed compliance directly into our operational workflows, making them more efficient and less prone to human error.
- • A critical component of your role will be establishing and maintaining a robust Continuous Monitoring (ConMon) program. This involves ensuring the timely and accurate collection, aggregation, and reporting of essential evidence, such as vulnerability scan results and audit logs, which are vital for ongoing compliance and security posture management.
- • You will work in close collaboration with Product and Engineering teams to define, plan, and execute the SRE roadmap. This cross-functional partnership is essential for aligning operational capabilities with product development and strategic business objectives.
- • Deep collaboration with Security and Compliance teams is paramount. You will work intimately with these groups to guarantee our services not only meet but exceed rigorous government compliance and security standards. This includes active and significant participation in the annual audit cycle, providing necessary evidence and support.
- • You will be instrumental in scaling our government cloud offerings, ensuring that as our footprint grows, our commitment to the highest standards of performance, security, and operational rigor within strict government confines remains uncompromised.
- • This role requires a leader who understands the nuances of operating in highly regulated environments, can translate complex compliance requirements into actionable engineering tasks, and can inspire a team to achieve excellence in a mission-critical domain.
- • You will champion best practices in SRE, focusing on proactive problem-solving, robust monitoring, efficient incident management, and continuous improvement through automation and data-driven insights.
- • Your leadership will directly contribute to Ping Identity's reputation as a trusted provider of secure and seamless digital identity solutions for government entities, enabling them to achieve their digital transformation goals with confidence.
- • You will be responsible for defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) related to service reliability, availability, and performance, using this data to inform strategic decisions and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- • You will also play a role in evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools that can enhance our SRE capabilities, particularly those that support government compliance and security mandates.
- • The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including government officials and auditors, will be essential for success in this role.
- • You will foster a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the team, encouraging professional development and the adoption of cutting-edge SRE practices.
- • Ultimately, your success will be measured by the sustained reliability, security, and compliance of our government cloud services, ensuring our customers can depend on Ping Identity for their most critical identity and access management needs.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience in an SRE, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering role, with at least 2 years in a management position, preferably within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) domain.
- • Hands-on, demonstrable experience participating in a regulated audit cycle (e.g., FedRAMP, DoD CC SRG, or similar highly-regulated framework), including practical experience with managing and remediating Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&Ms) and contributing to the System Security Plan (SSP).
- • Intimate knowledge of security and compliance controls, preferably from the NIST SP 800-53 framework, and how to implement them operationally.
- • Expertise with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- • Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab), and version control (Git).
- • Proficiency in a scripting or programming language such as Python, Go, Java, or Bash.
- • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
🏖️ Benefits
