📋 Description

• Lead a team of up to 8 software engineers responsible for building and maintaining Outreach’s Email + Calendar Services (ECS), a microservice constellation that handles millions of daily emails and calendar interactions.
• Own the technical roadmap and operational excellence for services that connect Outreach to major email providers including Microsoft 365, Gmail, Exchange, and Zoom, enabling send, sync, and telemetry capabilities.
• Ensure non-negotiable reliability, deliverability, observability, and security/privacy compliance across all email and calendar infrastructure supporting Outreach’s agentic AI revenue platform.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management, SRE, Security, and the Email & Calendar Experiences teams to design, conceptualize, and deliver scalable solutions that power customer communication and deal progression.
• Stay deeply involved in technical decision-making: participate in architecture reviews, challenge design trade-offs, drive reduction of technical debt, and raise the technical bar during code and design reviews.
• Mentor and grow senior engineers by building trust through technical expertise and people leadership, enabling them to own complex systems and contribute to platform-wide improvements.
• Oversee the evolution of backend services written primarily in Go, with legacy components in Ruby on Rails, ensuring smooth migration and modernization of the tech stack.
• Manage infrastructure running on Kubernetes (EKS), with data stores including MySQL, Redis, and AWS S3, and async processing via Kafka and RabbitMQ, while transitioning data loading to GraphQL.
• Utilize observability tools Datadog and Honeycomb to monitor system performance, detect anomalies, and ensure high availability for enterprise customers including Databricks, SAP, Siemens, and Verizon.
• Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging experimentation with new tools and approaches, evaluating their impact on team efficiency and platform reliability.
• Ensure the team operates at multi-tenant, massive scale while maintaining strict compliance with data privacy and security standards required by global enterprise clients.
• Attend weekly in-person team meetings and company events at the Prague office, maintaining strong team cohesion and alignment through regular face-to-face collaboration.
• Manage end-to-end delivery of services critical to Outreach’s core revenue platform, where email and calendar data directly feed AI-driven insights for prospecting, deal acceleration, retention, and forecasting.
• Balance people leadership with hands-on technical engagement — this is not a Jira-shepherd role; you must be technically credible and actively contribute to architectural discussions and code quality.
• Support the Email & Calendar Experiences team by enabling content creation, management, and organization tools used in customer communications.

🎯 Requirements

• Proven experience as a Software Engineering Manager leading teams of 5+ engineers in a high-scale, production environment
• Hands-on technical expertise in backend systems, with strong proficiency in Go or Ruby on Rails
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, AWS)
• Experience managing services that handle high-volume email or messaging systems at enterprise scale
• Demonstrated ability to drive technical debt reduction and improve system reliability, observability, and security compliance
• Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional teams including Product, SRE, and Security
