- • The Technical Writing team at Torc plays a crucial role in supporting all departments by creating and maintaining a diverse range of documentation. Our mission is to communicate complex technical information with clarity, accuracy, and conciseness, ensuring it is perfectly tailored to the intended audience. This involves close collaboration with document owners and subject matter experts (SMEs) to thoroughly understand requirements and audience needs, translating intricate concepts into accessible and actionable content.
- • As the Manager, Technical Writing, you will be instrumental in managing, participating in, and leading the collective efforts of our technical writing professionals. Your leadership will guide the team in the design, development, preparation, and ongoing maintenance of critical technical content. This encompasses a broad spectrum of documentation, including but not limited to, detailed processes, intricate workflows, established standards, operational models, comprehensive user manuals, step-by-step tutorials, essential policies, business schedules, and in-depth technical documentation.
- • A significant aspect of your role will involve leading, developing, and nurturing a team of high-performing technical writers. You will foster an environment of continuous improvement, professional growth, and collaborative success. Your strategic vision will be crucial in making key decisions regarding documentation templates, robust documentation management systems, standardization initiatives, effective organization strategies, stringent security protocols, and efficient archiving processes. These decisions will be paramount in ensuring unwavering compliance with Torc's corporate quality standards and regulatory requirements.
- • You will be responsible for meticulously tracking all documentation work, ensuring that projects meet established milestone dates and critical internal or external deliverables. This involves implementing and overseeing project management methodologies to maintain visibility and accountability across all documentation efforts.
- • Furthermore, you will evaluate business cases for the creation of external-facing documentation. This includes developing a comprehensive strategy and building a dedicated team, as applicable, to support these external communication needs. Your insights will guide the development of documentation that effectively communicates Torc's value proposition and technical capabilities to partners, customers, and the wider industry.
- • A core responsibility will be to ensure the creation of, and strict adherence to, standardization guidelines and documentation quality standards across the entire organization. This involves establishing and enforcing style guides, terminology databases, and review processes to guarantee consistency, accuracy, and professionalism in all written materials.
- • You will champion best practices in technical communication, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously enhance our documentation processes and outputs. This includes exploring and implementing new tools and methodologies that can improve efficiency, accessibility, and user experience.
- • The Manager, Technical Writing will also be responsible for fostering strong relationships with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, legal, and operations. By understanding their documentation needs and challenges, you will ensure that the technical writing team provides timely and effective support, contributing directly to the success of product launches, internal process improvements, and overall business objectives.
