Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Risk Labs, the driving force behind UMA and Across, is seeking a highly analytical and principled Market Integrity Analyst to join our globally distributed team. We are at the forefront of building infrastructure that propels the crypto space forward, with UMA's Optimistic Oracle establishing verifiable truth on blockchains and Across pioneering interoperability through intent-based architecture. Both are decentralized protocols governed by vibrant global communities, with Risk Labs Foundation providing essential support. As a remote-first, high-agency, and impact-driven organization, we foster an environment where individuals can make a significant contribution.
- • This contract-based role is specifically designed to bolster UMA’s proposal monitoring system for prediction markets. This critical system acts as a vital safeguard, preventing incorrect proposals from going unchallenged and ensuring that response times remain within predefined service level agreements (SLAs). You will be instrumental in leveraging internal tooling to meticulously review proposals flagged as high-risk. Your primary function will be to exercise independent, sound judgment to determine the veracity of these proposals, deciding whether they are correct or require escalation to UMA’s formal dispute resolution system. Your diligent work will have a direct and tangible impact on the accuracy of resolutions, the overall trustworthiness of the protocol, and the confidence users place in our systems.
- • It is crucial to understand that this is not a community moderation position. Instead, it is a structured, accountable review function that operates under strict response-time and quality expectations. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to grow their impact and scale their contributions as the system, along with its critical integrations such as Polymarket, continues its exponential growth trajectory.
- • **Your Core Responsibilities Will Include:**
- • **Flagged Proposal Review (Primary Responsibility):** You will be responsible for thoroughly reviewing proposals that are flagged by our automated monitoring systems during your assigned coverage windows. This involves a careful assessment to determine if the proposal is correct or if it warrants escalation to UMA’s established dispute resolution system. Prompt action on flagged proposals is essential to adhere to maximum response times, ensuring the efficiency and integrity of the system. Maintaining a high degree of decision accuracy is paramount, and you will be expected to identify and escalate high-risk or ambiguous cases to senior Risk Labs staff when necessary. The estimated volume for review typically ranges from 10 to 50 flagged proposals per 12-hour period.
- • **Exercise Independent Judgment:** A key aspect of this role is the ability to apply consistent reasoning across both objective and subjective markets. You will need to interpret ambiguous or edge-case rules effectively, even under time constraints, ensuring that your decisions are defensible, repeatable, and strictly aligned with established protocol standards. This requires a nuanced understanding of market dynamics and a commitment to objective evaluation.
- • **Maintain Decision Quality:** High-quality decision-making is non-negotiable. You will be required to clearly document the rationale behind every approval, dispute, and escalation. This meticulous documentation ensures transparency and accountability. Maintaining consistent standards across all review cases is vital for the integrity of the system and for building trust with the community and stakeholders.
- • **Improve the System:** Beyond your review duties, you will play an active role in enhancing the proposal monitoring system. This includes identifying patterns in false flags or areas of rule ambiguity, providing structured feedback on monitoring gaps, and suggesting improvements to market rules to increase determinism and clarity. Your insights will be invaluable in the ongoing refinement of our Human Review processes, contributing to a more robust and efficient system.
- • **What Success Looks Like:** This role is fundamentally outcome-driven. Success will be measured by your adherence to SLAs, the consistent high quality of your judgments on flagged proposals, the uniformity and consistency across your decisions, and your contributions to actionable system feedback. Your ability to perform reliably and contribute to the system's improvement will be key indicators of success.
