Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • As a Member of Technical Staff on Applied AI at Moonvalley Inc., you will play a pivotal role in productionizing frontier AI models to solve complex real-world problems, directly impacting business outcomes by integrating cutting-edge generative AI technology into customer technology stacks. This role is foundational to building a generational technology company in the media and entertainment space, where your work will bridge advanced research and practical deployment.
  • • Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating closely with researchers to translate the latest advancements in AI and ML into production-ready systems, working directly with customers to understand their needs and integrate models seamlessly into their workflows, owning problems end-to-end from concept to deployment, and maintaining high product ownership by iterating based on feedback and performance metrics. You will also contribute to shaping team processes as a founding member of a fast-growing, distributed team, wearing multiple hats across engineering, customer engagement, and internal tooling.
  • • The team at Moonvalley operates with a fully-distributed, async-first culture, emphasizing autonomy, deep work, and asynchronous collaboration across time zones. Despite being remote-first, the company convenes a few times annually in locations such as London, UK, or North America (LA, Toronto) to foster alignment and connection. The environment is mission-driven, with an expectation of dedication akin to Olympic athletes—occasional late nights and weekends may be required to meet ambitious goals, reflecting the high-stakes, innovative nature of building frontier AI products.
  • • In this role, you will achieve deep technical mastery in deploying large language models (LLMs) and transformer-based systems at scale, gain end-to-end product ownership experience in a high-impact AI startup, and develop expertise in customer-centric AI solution design. You will also grow as a technical leader by influencing team culture, contributing to architectural decisions, and helping define best practices for MLOps and AI productization in a fast-moving, innovative environment.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Experience as a machine learning engineer with a proven track record of working on AI products for external customers, particularly in productionizing models and managing the full ML lifecycle.
  • • Practical, hands-on experience working with transformer models and large language models (LLMs), including fine-tuning, deployment, and optimization for real-world applications.
  • • A strong obsession with customer problems and a passion for solving ambiguous, real-world challenges through technical innovation, demonstrated through past projects or roles.
  • • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams including research, product, and engineering.
  • • Background as a technical founder or in a similar high-ownership role, showing initiative, end-to-end problem-solving, and the ability to learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
  • • A kind, collaborative work style and a track record of owning problems from inception to delivery, with resilience and agility in fast-paced, uncertain environments.

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Competitive salary and equity package designed to reward early contributions to a high-growth AI startup.
  • • Comprehensive private health coverage, pension contributions (available for UK, Canada, and US employees), and stipends for phone, internet, and meals to support remote work.
  • • Unlimited paid vacation and a fully-distributed, async-first culture that prioritizes flexibility, autonomy, and work-life harmony.
  • • Hardware setup of your choice to ensure you have the tools needed to perform at your best.
  • • Opportunities to participate in occasional company meetups in global hubs like London, LA, or Toronto, fostering connection despite remote work.
  • • The chance to work on cutting-edge generative AI technology with direct impact on the future of media and entertainment, backed by a mission-driven team committed to building something generational.
