- • Build and ship AI-native product features end-to-end, from ambiguous ideas to reliable, user-facing systems that integrate multimodal AI capabilities.
- • Design and implement backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines that support model-driven workflows involving video, audio, and text data.
- • Work across the stack—including backend, frontend, infrastructure, and experimentation frameworks—as needed to deliver cohesive product outcomes.
- • Own systems from initial design through implementation, monitoring, and iterative improvement, ensuring reliability, performance, and simplicity.
- • Collaborate closely with researchers, designers, and product teams to translate research breakthroughs into production-ready features.
- • Turn high-level, open-ended goals into concrete scopes, milestones, and shipped outcomes with measurable impact.
- • Use AI tools to accelerate coding, debugging, and iteration, treating AI-generated output as a starting point that must be validated through testing, code reviews, and observability.
- • Design personal workflows that maximize engineering leverage without compromising correctness or system integrity.
- • Build systems that themselves leverage AI, such as agent-based workflows, retrieval-augmented generation, and multimodal reasoning pipelines.
- • Operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where speed and precision are both critical, prioritizing outcomes over task execution.
- • Contribute to the evolution of video and multimodal pipelines, including ingestion, processing, indexing, embedding generation, and retrieval systems.
- • Evaluate multimodal AI systems for retrieval quality, relevance, cost-efficiency, and performance trade-offs in real-world usage scenarios.
- • Engage with streaming and playback technologies such as HLS, transcoding workflows, and latency optimization for video-based AI applications.
- • Extract and utilize metadata from video and audio—such as speech, scenes, objects, and events—to enhance system understanding and user interactions.
- • Maintain a pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to complex problems, balancing innovation with operational stability in a growing startup environment.
- • Contribute to a globally distributed, remote-first team composed of engineers and researchers with backgrounds from Google DeepMind, FAIR, and leading AI startups.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience building production systems (backend or full-stack)
- • Strong fundamentals in APIs, distributed systems, and system reliability
- • Comfort working across multiple domains (engineering, product, data, UX)
- • A track record of owning problems end-to-end, not just executing tasks
- • Ability to move quickly in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
- • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
