- • Build and maintain scalable backend services using Python in production environments
- • Design, manage, and optimize relational databases, primarily Postgres, including schema evolution and safe execution of database migrations
- • Work extensively with cloud infrastructure, primarily Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with exposure to AWS or Azure also relevant
- • Automate development and operational workflows using Bash scripting to streamline deployment, monitoring, and system tasks
- • Contribute to the design, implementation, and improvement of CI/CD pipelines to enhance software delivery speed and reliability
- • Troubleshoot and resolve issues spanning application code, database performance, and underlying infrastructure layers
- • Collaborate closely with software engineers, data teams, and platform specialists to deliver robust, production-ready systems
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of system improvements, from identifying inefficiencies to deploying and validating solutions
- • Ensure systems are designed for reliability, scalability, and maintainability with a focus on reducing technical debt
- • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and on-call rotations to uphold system quality and operational excellence
- • Work within a cross-functional environment where infrastructure, deployment, and application logic are tightly integrated
- • Improve release processes by implementing automated testing, rollback strategies, and monitoring instrumentation
- • Apply software engineering fundamentals to design systems that are modular, testable, and observable in production
- • Engage in proactive system optimization, including identifying bottlenecks in data access, network latency, or resource allocation
- • Support legacy system modernization efforts by refactoring code, updating dependencies, and migrating to cloud-native patterns
- • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing to ensure team-wide understanding of systems and processes
- • Participate in incident response and post-mortem analyses to prevent recurrence of operational issues
- • Maintain a mindset of continuous improvement, challenging existing processes and proposing better alternatives
- • Balance rapid delivery with system stability by advocating for best practices in configuration management and deployment safety
- • Work in a collaborative, high-trust environment where ownership of systems extends beyond code to deployment and operational health
- • Stay current with evolving cloud and automation tooling to enhance team capabilities and system performance
- • Engage with stakeholders across engineering and platform teams to align on infrastructure roadmaps and delivery priorities
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience building production systems using Python
- • Exposure to cloud environments (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure also considered)
- • Strong scripting ability (Bash)
- • Experience with relational databases (Postgres or similar)
- • Hands-on experience with database schema changes / migrations
- • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals and system design
